Question about the "Waitlist"

[I first posted this in the LSAT forum by accident, thus the repost here]

Once someone is put on the waitlist, does that indicate that the school has made as many offers as they have slots and they're just waiting for some of those accepted to decline, after which they'll act on the waitlist?

The reason I ask:  I've seen several applicants on LSN that have recently been waitlisted at my target school and I'm still awaiting initial word on my recently completed application.  After seeing several waitlisted, it got me wondering about the dynamics...

Nope, it doesn't mean that the school is full yet, just that those applicants don't quite match up with who the school wants to ideally admit. Don't stress =)
