gpa -- how much does your college matter?

I think your quality of undergrad college does matter. I got a 174 and have a gpa of 3.67 in a hard science major, which i completed in about 2 years. The only problem is that its from a crappy school, and i haven't been getting accepted to most of the schools i expected to from the median numbers, and lsac percentages. My personal stat. and LOR are both strong, so as far as i can see the problem must be w/ my school.

My 3.9 from State U. was good enough to get me into a top ten school.  I wouldn't knock State U's.  At least they don't inflate GPA's.

I know plenty of people from my local State U who graduated with 4.0s and didn't do a fraction of the work I did at a LAC where I struggled to stay above 3.0. Our intro level classes had more reading and writing than their upper division seminars. The few papers that they did write, and which they got A's for, wouldn't have garnered more than a C where I was.

Suffice it to say, plenty of public schools have lots of grade inflation.
