With the current cutbacks in the state budget here in Florida for university funding, I can't help but wonder if this is affecting the number of out-of-state applicants they're accepting. A lot of us still waiting are Florida residents. I wouldn't be surprised if they're perhaps placing priority on out-of-staters, who would pay double what we'd be paying. But that's just a theory of mine.
All I know is that at USF they're talking about how much harder it is going to be to get in here for undergrad, due to the budget cuts. It's apparently now to the point where B average HS graduates will be facing a challenge to get in. That's at USF... I can't even imagine at UF and FSU, where they're even more selective, what it's like.Well, yes I can, because I believe that if these budget cutbacks in the tens of millions are causing schools to cut down on the number of students they accept for 2008-2009 undergrad, that it more likely than not is also affecting the graduate schools as well. Additionally, UF has had a very large class, and I wouldn't be surprised if they want to cut down on that. All of this is going to equal more selectivity. In any case, even if it's not having a huge impact, I'm sure the budget strain isn't helping any.

The state apparently has even asked UF to decrease it further. I can't imagine what it will mean to the already very high selectivity UF has had in the past few years (it started right after I got in, thank God), or what it will mean for the law school.
