As far as that goes, does being a russian make me a URM? I came to america when I was 11, but I am blatantly caucasian. URM or not?

not URM.  but diversity points, nonetheless.  write a diversity statement.  that's what i did, and that's how you still get the advantage of what haz said (below):

The fact that you don't get URM status is BS!! How can Middle Easterners not be an URM? The question should actually be "Are you one of the disenfranchised people of the United States?"

That's pretty much what I did. My entire personal statement was about that, overcoming adversity etc. I'm glad to know that even tho there may not be an official URM status, at least it helps.
