I'd probably do a few years in public accounting, get my CPA, then go for a PhD.  I still might do that.

Wow - I've never heard anyone say they had a "passion for law."

I guess it sounds silly, but I found that when i talked about certain topics dealing with politics or laws, I get so worked up, I mean FIRED up! I suppose that is how I explain it.

Ah, okay.

I thought you meant the actual day to day minutiae of practicing law got you fired up.

So why'd y'all choose law school instead of what you listed?

Because a law degree will give me a greater ability to work in the areas where I most want to be. I could keep working where I am, but I think a law degree will open a lot more doors. I know it sounds a bit trite, but it's my actual reason.
Why is that trite? I think that is a great reason to go into law. I don't think we all need to be on missions, or need to try and save the world.

Heh. That's exactly why I think my reasons are trite. I'd love to work in education reform and do public interest law. I'm on that clichéd mission you mentioned. To be fair though, I've been doing this type of work for 8 years, so I'm not just saying it to try and look like something I'm not.
