Was hoping for an acceptance from Illinois, but I guess they didn't like something about my application. Do schools in this range ever try to yield protect by putting applicants on hold that they think may not attend?

I'm in at Minnesota and Michigan but UIUC 'Held' me. I withdrew within about 5 minutes. Not a massive deal and i reckon some yp is going on.

I'd say a LOCI is definitely a good idea. Be very polite and thank the committe for looking at your applications so far...
