Just how god awful expensive is it to live in DC?

seriously, though, what's the general financial situation?  obviously it's really expensive both to go to school there and to live in the area.  do students mostly feel like they get enough in terms of financial aid and job prospects, or is joe-typical-GW-student seriously worried about paying off loans?

Not that bad, really...it's all relative. I live out in VA, so I pay comparatively little (~850/month with parking) to my friends in the DC area.

Most people get firm jobs and pay off debt that way. I have no financial or merit aid here, and I'm not happy about it. But, then again, I really didn't deserve either when I applied. I will be very disappointed if I don't get any aid for next year.

i'm living in d.c. now in a 2br/2ba, 1200 sq foot apartment in a good area of D.C. for $900 a month (my roomie has the bigger room and pays $1000).  I'm kind of a hike to the metro on foot, but only a few minutes by bus.
