I think Hold means they haven't rendered a decision while WL means you are in if others don't choose to come.

If you have been waitlisted you have essentially been rejected, but hold an outside chance still being accepted if too many people decline their acceptances.

Then why do I feel so empty inside?   :'(
To put it bluntly, I seem to have a whole superstructure with no foundation. But I`m working on the foundation.
