I actually asked an advisor this once (well, it was a similar question)...

They said HYSCCN, Penn, Michigan, Duke > will place better than UT (they actually were the least confident about NYU out of this group)

Virginia, Berkeley, are a coin tosses they said.... (this was surprising to me, because I thought Virginia would be better than Texas for sure)

NWU, Cornell, and G-Town (UCLA, USC, Vandy, Washington in SL, etc.) < go to Texas

How do you know it's wrong?

All data would suggest it.

As a GULC student who has done some job hunting Tx, I can tell you that I have been treated differently (better) than UT students.

I also get the impression that most Tx firms have slightly lower grade cutoffs from GULC than from UT.

Of course, this is purely anecdotal, so YMMV.

Yep, credited.  This is normal.

To elaborate, these are the attitudes I observed towards various school ranks:

From HYS: Plzplzplz come work for us. we want we want we want.
From T14: Presumptively a good canditate unless proven otherwise by bad grades or bad behavior.
From UT: Considered a probable good candidate, but on a case by case basis.
From TTT: Presumptively a bad candidate unless proven otherwise by exceptional grades and other exceptional factors.

CDO offices, the firms themselves, US News, anecdotal evidence - listed in order of importance.

Not much in the way of CCN, or is that simply a myth perpetuated by USNEWS-influenced pre-law students?
