Choosing the Right Law School / Re: 153???

Stetson should not be on that list.  They even rejected some UF and FSU admits last cycle.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

University of Detroit Mercy
Ohio Northern
Oklahoma City
South Texas
St. Maryıs University-Texas
Western New England
Whittier College
Widener-Harrisburg (PA)

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: FSU Deferral letter?

Yeah that was one thing about it.  It seemed to be overly posititve.  Besides "highly competitive", it also said "your very impressive record" at the end. I'm not sure what it means exactly.

You guys are reading way too much into these letter; they are not customized just for you. It is a general letter they send to tons of people.

That's a very common letter that most likely will turn into a rejection letter late in the admission game.

What are your numbers?

Some how, I find that hard to believe.

Asians were never traditionally and systematically denied access to higher education, as (some) Hispanic peoples, Native-Americans, African-Americans, and women have been.

Do these 1Ls at visiting school actually get grades and class ranks or do they just get pass and fail?

Choosing the Right Law School / What Going Happened to New Orleans 1Ls??
« on: October 03, 2005, 03:00:34 PM »
I guess most of them are taking classes at other law schools as  visiting students, but can they transfer to other law schools or stay at the current law school if they decided not to return to New Orleans which will take a long time for the economy to be back where it used to be (if ever) or do they have to return to (Tulane or Loyala) once the school is ready to take back its students.

I feel bad for those students, especially Loyola's 1Ls due to the school's limited regional reputation (and they probably will have a very hard time finding jobs in New Orleans in the near future) and different law than the rest of the states.

Incoming 1Ls / Re: 1L's: What do you think of law school?

At first I was worried about not getting Bs, now I am afraid I will actually fail out (something I never considered)  :-\

Either you're doing everything wrong or I am just clueless.

I spent about....2 hours a day in addition to class time and I find myself well-prepared for class and pretty much understand the material.  The only time when I was spending more than 3 to 4 hours a day is during the period where I have to do research for my writing class.

I noticed that a lot of my classmates are at the library all the time, but me, I am just chillin' and trying to find some hobbbies.

We'll see how things turn out in Feb. when grades come out.

Imagine how things are now if you had chosen Loyola University New Orleans.  How do you like your school?

Sounds like you made the right choice.  I'll tell you a little story about myself which sort of got me thinking of the whole god issue.  I was all set to go to Loyola University New Orleans.  I mean I had my bags packed and everything.  About two weeks before we were going to move, I got a call on a Sunday morning from the dean of students here at the University of Arkansas asking me if Is till wanted to come here.  I said sure and the next day I was up here taking a tour of the school and I fell in love. And then Katrina.... Long story short, I think there is a plan for all of us what we are supposed to do and were we are supposed to be.  If it is meant for the OP to not have his BA and get his JD, I'm sure he'll do some great work for the world.

When can you return back to school?  If not for months, what are your plans?

This would be my second week of school (third if you count orientation), but my school is currently underwater and/or blown away. Thanks alot Katrina! On a positive note, my 1st research assignment for my Legal Research and Writing class which was due tommorrow is now not due tommorrow! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess there's a positive side to everything..... ;)

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: UALR

If you can get into UALR, you have a shot at University of Arkansas, which is the better school.  You should shoot for UA; it's not only a better law school, but it's also a better institution in general.
