Yes, if you want a law license it is.

General Board / Re: Where do you get E&Es?
« on: April 04, 2009, 02:57:20 PM »
You have to get the school specific version.  I don't think Georgia State releases their E & E's until July.  At least that's what they did last year.  You could call the school bookstore and ask if you are really curious.

General Board / Re: PMBR + Barbri?

Get one or both of the PMBR books from amazon or ebay and skip the course. Go to Barbri and take good notes, review the notes in the evening and practice writing lots of essays. Do a lot of barbri and PMBR multiple choice to get a feel for different types of questions and nail the law down in your head.  If you do this, you'll pass the bar.

General Board / Re: Citing to the record

There is only one "record on appeal" so my guess is that it should be cited as if everything was one document - i.e. in numerical order.

As long as you're reasonably smart and put in the work in the 3 or so weeks leading up to exams you'll be fine.  Get a good supplement.

Nice racist thread.  Obviously racism is still alive and well on both sides.

I'm self-motivated too and thought about going this route last summer.  I'm glad I didn't.  There is so much material and it's hard to prioritize.  The one thing Barbri was extremely helpful with was cutting down the crap to a somewhat manageable volume of information.  There were plenty of topics in the big books that the lectures covered only tangentially or not at all.  If I had studied on my own, I would have always wondered if it was ok to skip over all of that information.  With Barbri, at least I knew that if they didn't cover something, 90+% of others taking the bar didn't know it either.

Bar Exam / Re: BarBri for multistate prep?
« on: January 30, 2009, 07:18:08 PM »
Barbri is probably sufficient for your MBE study.  If you want some exposure to PMBR questions just buy the old books online.  This is what I did and I passed in July.  The PMBR class is a waste of time and money.

General Board / Re: BAR Exam- NC or SC?
« on: December 21, 2008, 05:26:14 PM »
I just took the NC Bar in July.  They test heavily on NC distinctions and the essay portion counts 60% of the grade.  Don't know anything about the SC bar, though I seem to remember hearing one time that you had to take certain courses in law school in order to sit for that bar.  So you might want to check into that if you are considering SC.

For Freely,

Please do not insult NC like that ever again.

General Board / Re: Commonwealth v Sherry = Negligence standard to consent?

Rape is a general intent crime.  With all general intent crimes when the jury is instructed on the defense of mistake, the mistake must be both honest and reasonable in order to find the defendant not guilty.
