Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Harvard Rejection

Wow. I didn't anticipate such strong reactions to my news.

Yeah, well, for obvious reasons I was pulling for you. Lord only knows what's in my mailbox now or what will be in coming days. Very sorry to see you leave the pool, but at least you've got a slew of good options.

I don't suppose you murdered a nun or anything, did you? Because that would be reassuring to me.

LOL...nope, nothing like that. It could have been any number of things, e.g., they didn't like my essay, my school is probably considered mediocre at best, my major was easy (by relative comparison).

Best of luck with HLS - I hope you receive better news in the coming days.

Anyways, I don't know what went wrong at H, but I am more than happy with my acceeptances thus far, so I'm not too upset about it.

Good luck to all who are still waiting, and thank you to BK for the condolences.

a phone call from the Tobster--the point of which probably shouldn't be to collect significant supplemental info, anyway

But that is what the email about the call said.  He wanted to ask a few questions in order to make a stronger case for whomever with the admissions committee.  That seems like exactly the supplemental info requested in the hold letter.

Edit:  oh my word.  look at this deferral.

*whimper*  as these deferrals are inching closer and closer to my numbers, i am more and more convinced that mine is in the mail.  damnit this sucks!  school just started and i have a thesis to write! i don't have time to write another essay for law school!

I am in the same boat Chombi...most people with my numbers seem to be in already, so I expect a hold or rejection sometime this week. I have some new stuff to send the big H - I just hope they give me the opportunity to do so.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Lower Salaries at U Chicago???

Those numbers do seem a bit odd...but my understanding is that most schools don't report all info for ALL graduates (look at the numbers for Pitt [I believe these are ridiculously high]). I can certainly guarantee that GULC and NU DO NOT have better placement than Chicago.

Personally, I am seriously considering Chicago for the reasons stated above (in addition to its small class size, incredible faculty, and admirable clerkship placement).

I wouldn't worry about those numbers...much of it might be due to self-selection (or else the reporting numbers you cite already). Chicago probably places better as a national ls than everywhere else save H and Y.

Law School Admissions / Re: GULC phone call?
« on: January 19, 2006, 10:34:41 AM »
So I got a call today from a number I didn't recognize. The caller did not leave a message, but when I called the number back, I got the GULC operator. I was just curious if the school has contacted anyone else via phone lately...

Edit: Should I call or email the school tomorrow afternoon, or just disregard unless they try back?

Where have you been for the past month or so?  Welcome back.

Activity for my cycle has slowed considerably, so I tried to break away and be more productive with some of my free time...but I think I'm back now. :P
