« on: August 31, 2005, 10:02:27 AM »
Chiashu is back up after a short hiatus.  It's currently being updated, so hopefully we'll get the most recent application pool info for the admissions calculator.

Studying for the LSAT / Testmasters Diagnostic 2 - Thoughts? Scores?
« on: August 27, 2005, 12:07:15 PM »
Just wondering how people think they did on today's diagnostic.  I think I did well, though right now the scores are not available.  I wasn't able to finish the last logic games section (the non-experimental one), but I did better on it than I did on my first diagnostic.  Hope people have good news to report.  I'll elaborate on my experience once I get my score report.

Law School Admissions / LSDAS and Schools that don't give A+'s
« on: August 18, 2005, 02:20:47 PM »
How does the LSDAS report take into account the fact that some schools (including mine) do not give out A+'s.  The highest our grades go are A's.  So am I at a disadvantage because my grade ceiling is 4.00 whereas other schools have 4.33 grade ceilings?  How do they know that I would not have gotten an A+ if my school's cap had been higher?  Any insight would help.

Law School Admissions / Columbia Hamilton Scholarship
« on: August 16, 2005, 09:01:06 AM »
Does anyone have any information on this scholarship?  On LSN I've seen a few applicants offered this scholarship, which I believe is for full tuition, but there is no info about it on the Columbia website.  Does anyone know who gets offered this scholarship?  Is it based on LSAT, GPA, both?  Any info would help.

Studying for the LSAT / Testmasters 2nd Diagnostic Results
« on: August 10, 2005, 07:53:58 PM »
I'm in the late summer course, so I haven't had my second diagnostic yet, but I know that the midsummer course recently had it (or the early summer course, don't know which one).  I was just wondering how TM students felt about the course and their performance on the 2nd diag.  Did you do better?  Worse?  the same?  Had what you learned up to that point been helpful?  Some shared thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Law School Admissions / New LSAC Admissions Calculator
« on: August 05, 2005, 01:02:14 PM »

The new LSAC admissions calculator is up.  It looks really sweet.  Much better than the old one.  I guess it was worth the wait.

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / William & Mary
« on: August 05, 2005, 06:45:40 AM »
Does anyone have any good information on W&M Law?  I'm considering it, but I would like to get some input from people who have an opinion on it (preferably those who have visited, but anyone's intelligent input is appreciated).  I know the CIA recruits from there, which is why I'm interested in it, but I don't know much more (and the website isn't terribly helpful).

Studying for the LSAT / Logic games help
« on: August 04, 2005, 01:24:00 PM »
Just finished doing the LG drills for the homework for Testmasters Lesson 3.  I find my biggest challenge isn't finding most of the deductions, it's finding ALL the deductions.  I can usually find the ones that are obvious, but there are some that slip passed me that are not so obvious.  Any advice on how to combat this?  Missing even one deduction can have a devastating effect on logic games performace.

Minority and Non-Traditional Law Students / Hispanic Applicants
« on: August 02, 2005, 07:19:17 PM »
I'm a hispanic hoping to apply to the top law schools (my list includes Columbia, Harvard, Chicago, Georgetown, and maybe Yale and Stanford, among some other schools).  I have a 3.75 GPA from Swarthmore, and will be studying abroad all next year at Oxford (which while common for some applicants, is hardly typical of hispanic applicants).  What score should I aim for on the LSAT?  Rather, what score range would help my chances of gaining admission to these schools?  I'm currently enrolled in a Testmasters course in NYC, so I'm working on doing as well on the LSAT as possible, yet I would like to know what LSAT score I should hope for.  Also, how are hispanics considered by adcoms?  While some people might cynically group all URM's together, it is obvious that hispanic applicants are not given as much leway with GPA/LSAT scores as are black applicants, though they are given more leway than white applicants.
