I know, replying to my own post is kinda sad...

Just wanted to update.  I purchased a Dell 700m with an Intel ProWireless card inside.  Yesterday I went by the UB campus and tried to get access. It was great! I turned on my laptop and it recognized the signal right away. When I opened internet explorer, it asked for my UB user ID and password, and then I was good to go!

I'm am getting a bit nervous too.  I am working full time at a firm in B'more as a legal assistant, while attending UB at night...whew...

I just purchased my books yesterday, though they were out of most of the LARW I books....they said they should be in about a week before orientation.  The bookstore had lots of great stuff to help you get organized and I highly recommend a visit (if you're close by) before Aug 15th.

Yeah, jeez lots of hostility!

I am currently working at a "big law firm" as a legal assistant.  I was hired with the knowledge that I would be attending law school during the evenings.  Each person I spoke with at my firm said that was admirable and showed determination and intelligence.  I certainly feel that having made connections here and working with partners/attys on a daily basis will CERTAINLY give me a leg up on the competition once I am looking for jobs...

Baltimore / 1Ls at UB?

I am off to UB this fall and was wondering if anyone else out there wanted to start an email group or message board online to discuss things.  We can find out who is in each other's sections/courses and it might benefit us all to know some people going in.

I am in the evening division, Section 419.  Hope to hear from you soon and good luck this Fall!

Hi there...
I am currently working as a paralegal at a large DC law firm in the Patent Litigation group. One of the attys I work with not only was pregnant while practicing, but now she has two sons ages 4 and 2.  She is very successful...just wanted to let you know that it is possible!

I have worked in several DC law firms and YES, there is a DC Bar (www.dcbar.org). However, the above poster was right that most DC attorneys are also admitted to either VA or MD or NY or DE or something like that.

Baltimore / The Wireless Campus

I will be starting law school this fall (2005) at UB. I know they are nearly a completely wireless campus, meaning that wireless enabled laptops can get a network connection in about 80% of the campus buildings.

Does anyone know if there are specific requirements for laptops cause I am getting ready to buy a new one. What are the best laptops for law students, that also are the best for wi-fi?
