Hey Everybody (Hey Dr. Nick. . .)
How is everybody doing now that we're getting down to the wire? I'm moving into the Tower on Friday. I'm so excited. Grubes, are you already moved in? How was your trip out to California? Good luck to everybody with all of your moves and last minute arrangements! We're almost there :
Talk to you later,
I'm all moved and settled in. It was a good time. I spent the last few days with my girlfriend exploring the city. I've never been here before so I was pretty impressed/overwhelmed/etc. I was really surprised at my neighborhood...I know, I've heard about it all, but it is sketch central and reminded me of the seedy area I stayed in while I was in Amsterdam right near the red light district.
Class sections? Web advisor? I suppose you all have email too.....Hmmmmm, I wonder where I got lost.....I'll get it figured out. Not to worry.

i say zeitgeist or casanova again unless someone wants to try to drag us out of the mission
ps: i'm posting from a cafe in minneapolis - it's so hot i'm pretty sure i'm melting.
Welcome to Minneapolis. Its been hotter than a bastard for the last two weeks. Freezing, stupifying winters, and sweltering humid summers. The weather is rarely just "nice" save early spring and fall. Why anyone chooses to live here is beyond me (aside from the affordability, quality of life, rich theater culture-don't laugh, its true-and the swedish chicks).
I'm moving into my new tenderloin neighborhood two weeks from today. I'm a little excited, a little nervous, and a little sad. Its so hard to abandon all the relationships I've worked so hard to cultivate during high school and undergrad. You guys all better rock, or else I'm going to be seriously pissed.
I'm drunk at work right now as well.

I joined a yahoo group dedicated to hastings and there is a thread in it from some time ago in the past that gives a link to some "rate your professors" site and a whole bunch of hastings profs are on it. You'll have to do some searching.....but it seems you are sorta amped and would love to spend your time tracking down this info.....

Ok, this sucks. I haven't received anything in the mail from school since I changed my address and I don't know what the hell the deal is. What have I missed? I think the post office is broken. Crap.
I heard there was some registration thing, no? I called admissions and they were like, nope, no electives....I's like "Wah?" They's like "Shah."
Now this...I'm going to miss out on everything.
Thats it, I'm quiting.
Oh, and oscar. With lifting I go in spurts, I lifted hardcore this year and packed on about 10 lbs of muscle before I met my G/F and then ceased to do anything in life besides be with the lovely Trishmeister. Now I go like once a week or less. But once I get to school I think I want to hit it up for sure 3 or 4 days a week. I play some b ball too, but only for fun, I'm not good, just straight from the hood.
PS - I can't wait to sue people, just thought I should let you all know....justice is served....check please.....paycheck....

Hey Oscar, do you lift? I could use a lifting buddy. I think it would be a good way to spend some sort of social time with people. I've been thinking about hitting the gym in the mornings before class. What do you think?

Alright, so I have decided against finding an apartment during orientation and actually flying out soon to go apartment hunting in the city (curiously, did anyone ever receive information about living in the Towers, because I never received any information; I was using the Hastings website and stumbled across some seemingly important information [checklists, housing] - I feel as though I should've received some sort of "Welcome to Hastings" packet after I sent in my deposit).
I'll be armed with my laptop computer, Google Earth, and housingmaps.com, and hopefully I'll be able to find something quickly. Any tips?
Quick question to those more familiar than I am: My financial aid -- grants, federal loans, and private loan -- will be deposited into my student account at Hastings. How will I get access to funds to pay for such things as the apartment, food, supplies, books, etc.? A lump sum check at the beginning of the semester, I assume? Therefore my housing deposits will have to be paid for out of pocket?
I feel you on that cause I've felt like a lost puppy half the time. I'm not sure if the school has processed my loans yet or not. I haven't received a bill. I haven't received anything since May. People spoke of some sort of registration materials....hmmmm, nope not I. Nada. I heard the administration was bad, and I can see why.

I'll be shipping out early in August, probably around the 1st or so, set up my place with a bed. Then my GF is going to fly in, help me pick out some decor, and hit up the city for a couple days.
I'm pretty stoked....

I just want to move now. Anyone want to let me crash with them for awhile? I'm Minnesotan so I can bring lots of hot dish, rhubarb pie, ice fishing equipment, and Kevin Garnett.
