Black Law Students / Why Michigan? Essay
« on: January 22, 2006, 10:12:21 AM »
Hey Guys -

I got the Michigan (we have found much to admire from your application) email last Monday - I just wrote the Why Michigan? to hopefully show them that I am truly interested in attending - I know its Sunday but if anyone can read it - Its very rough - basically I just want to know if it seems like I have too much of an agenda.

Thanks

And a good percent of the reported data to LSN is false
People create false accounts all the time whether to argue the merits of AA or to mess with other law school applicants
On other message boards - some people admit to creating no less than 20 accounts on LSN - they could be exaggerating of course - but it could be true
So take it for what its worth.

I remember reading awhile ago - that you do not have to submit a D.C. for NYU until you have been admitted and plan on attending

I'm pulling this out of long-term memory so I could be wrong

http://www.nalpdirectory.com/browse.asp

The Nalp Directory -

Perform a search - any law firm you are interested in - it shows you all sorts of relevant info concerning this topic

- what school firms will interview
- #'s of offers made
- #'s of minorities, women (total)
- # of minorities, women that make partner, of counsel, etc...

Just based on my experience paralegaling at a BIGLAW firm in NYC - I see that most women tend to become "of counsel" - and do not become partner. Take it how you will - you can check the stats for yourself - but I believe that this professional concession [on behalf of these law firms] stem from the "mommy" factor. There is still a glass ceiling of sorts.

I would Create the list of apps that you plan to send win LSDAS

Find out which ones require Dean's Certs. - and send them to the necessary office to be signed

The turnaround time for the Certs. usually take a while - and this is the height of application season

This will def. save you time.

Law School Admissions / Application Trends
« on: December 01, 2005, 09:26:39 PM »
Based on past cycles data

If we were to guesstimate - about how much of the applicant pool has already applied to the law school of their choice?
when is the real influx of applicants?
Has it already passed?
or does it usually come after the Dec LSAT?

Just curious... at 11:30 at night (sheesh)

Thanks
