Law School Applications / Another Rate my chances thread (3.75/167)
« on: June 28, 2005, 10:35:14 AM »
Hey all!
I have been lurking around these "chance" threads lately and liked the advice given to others. I was wondering if anyone could help me out as well. I know my chiashu odds, but realize that those are out of date.
I have a 3.75 UGPA and a 167 LSAT (not thinking about retaking at this point). I worked PT (approx 25-35 hrs/wk) during the school year and usually FT during summers at jobs that I played a leadership role in (some more than others). I have been granted membership in two well-known honor societies and am an active member in one school club. For the 2005-2006 school year my school picked me to be one of the school's student ambassadors.
Right know I am leaning towards wanting to go to law school on the east coast. I have visited Upenn and loved the environment there and from reading up on UVA I think that I would like the "feel" of that place as well. I have not visited any of the schools in NYC, but am thinking about applying to Fordham and Cardozo and maybe NYU and Columbia. I haven't done much looking into DC schools at this point so I have no clue about those.
That said, I am also open to other geographic locations. Right now I am looking at Wisconsin to be a safety (nice-perks/benefits for me to go there: in-state tuition, i don't mind the area...but I would rather be in a large city..., I won't have to take the bar if I stay in Wisconsin to practice). I will have to move anyway b/c there isn't a law school close to where I currently live.
So what do you think of my chances at these law schools? What other law schools should I be researching? What do you think should be my (safety/target/reach plan).
Any input would be welcomed!
