General Off-Topic Board / Re: Attacking Iran???

In 1948 did Israel start war?  How about in 1967?

Contrary to popular belief, there is convincing evidence that  Israel started the war.

This evidence is from what source? Cite me something please, do not reiterate propoganda as gospel.

I guess Suicide bombers in malls, parks, shopping centers, buses are just a myth or a dream, or propoganda eh?

I suppose that kidnappings, constant threats are myth...

I guess the fact that virtually every Mid East nations wants to "wipe Israel off the map" is meaningless.  The Iranian president's assertation that the Holocaust does not exist, that too I guess is nothing to be bothered with.

1. Not every middle eastern nation wants to "wipe Israel off the map"

Thats why I said virtually every Middle Eastern nation, selective reading is a great thing isn't it...

Quote

2. The IRI, has reiterated that, those comments were directed towards the Israeli regime.

Who cares who they were directed towards.  They are offensive do you agree?  When cartoons are published about Islame, they riot like maniacs in the streets, but they can say that the Holocaust never existed, as if it was nothing?

Quote

3. As far as the Palestinian violence, no one here is asserting that it is a myth or propaganda.  These actions have been rightfully condemned by the international community. The Palestinians nevertheless have been punished collectively by heinous regulations that have starved thousands and forced many children to the streets wandering for food.  The brutal protocals the Israelis enforce on the Palestinians often go without any media attention.  Subsequently, thousands of Palestinians go jobless and live aimlessly with no source of income, leading them to live in refugee camps.

There is a reason for those regulations.  Palestinian children also carry hand grenades to Israeli soldiers, while Palestinian men and women enter crowded restaurants, and theaters and blow themselves up.

Quote
You talk about Palestinian children and civilians dying from Israeli gunfire?  Granted they do, but at least the Israeli's attack when they suspect terrorists in those homes or buildings, Palestinians attack when they see CIVILIANS.  Just as you can name Palestinian children who died, I can name plenty of Israeli children as well.

This is nonsense.  If I had saved a penny for everytime reading this classical Israeli apologistic response, I'd be a millionaire by now.  The  Israelis have killed countless of innocent individuals who have no part in any violence.  Just yesterday another 8 year old girl living in a refugee camp was brutally killed.  The Israeli government have a track record of killing children, disabled people and woman.

Israeli apologistic response?  How many 8 year old Israeli children were killed last year when Palestinians detonated explosives in shopping centers and on buses.

Quote

Quote
Sure, Israel is no saint, but the Palestinians and Mid East Muslims are no better, and arguably worse.  You argue from only one standpoint.  "Inoocent Palestinians" do not strap dynamite to their chests, and look for crowded city buses...

Currently there are thousands of Jews living in Iran that have higher incomes compared to many other Iranians, they are living comfortably and have been doing so for hundreds of years.  Jews have lived in the middle east for centuries.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING discussed??

Quote

Ever since the advent of Israel, they have staged terrorist attacks as well, why is it that you are forgetting the Israeli terrorism that went on during the 40s, 50s and 60s? Israeli terrorists bombed buses, hotels and businesses and killed hundreds of Arab civilians.

Indeed during wars?  Perhaps they should've sat back and waited for Egypt to launch yet another failed invasion...

Quote

Currently plight of the minorities living therein is beyond atrocious.  Steve, if anyone is arguing from one standpoint it is yourself.

Quote
This was offered, and the Palestinians rejected, I dont think it was an EXACT split, but the two state solution was and still is on the table

Yes,  IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT an exact split.

Why do you expect a CONQUERING power to offer an armistice with terms favorable to the loser of the war/conflict?  This is absurd...the Arab world fought multiple wars against Israel, and got their asses handed to them, they are hardly in a position to negotiate, and should be grateful, that Israel is offering as much as they are

Suicide bombing has become such a norm especially in the Israeli Palestinina conflict. It has become sooo common that people fail to understand what it means to strap a belt of explosives on your body and actually press the button to kill yourself in such a manner. Death is not a playful act and people who become suicide bombers go through a lot. What makes someone even consider blowing himself up? If suicide bombing is such a good tactic to kill people why aren't suicide squads being formed in every nations military. The simple answer: they dont need primitive methods such as these to kill people. If palestinians dont do it, the next thing they can fight with is rocks and that we all know wont do much to change Israel's opinion or even make a dent in their forreign policy. ANYWAYS I AM NOT ENDORSING SUICIDE BOMBING - IT IS AGAINST ALL STANDARDS. BUT ONE MUST ALSO CONSIDER THE CORE QUESTION....WHY? And pls done jump on this post as being Anti-Semitic. Its a recommendation which might be thought about. Just as there are innocent palestinians there are innocent israelis and both are equal in my eyes because first off both are human beings who want peace.

A recent article in a anti-war website discusses how Colin Powell disagrees with critics who claim that there is no Israel lobby.

http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Apr06/Glunts10.htm

where the hell have you been!?!?!?!?!?  Go check out the Iran thread- It's been chaos for the past 2 days!

Hey nesnut, lets revive the Iran thread...our partnership in the thread was brutal  ;)

53
Whaddaya all think--true or not true? Totally anti-semitic or not at all?

i haven't bothered reading the article, but i vote not anti-semitic.  people are too ready to call ANYTHING anti-israeli, even vaguely, anti-semitic.  it detracts from the term.

Exactly...sometimes even mentioning jews is termed anti-semitic.

1. Starting multiple dumb threads a day

2. Opining authoritatively on topics one knows nothing about and have thought about even less

3. Passive aggressiveness (this is a rampant epidemic on LSD)

ditto  ;D

Incoming 1Ls / Re: Sony Vaios---Are they Worth the Money???
« on: April 12, 2006, 09:47:07 AM »
I bought a new sony vaio desktop and i must say i am not happy with its performance. It has become so slow, has given me a lot of problems - i have had to reformat it many times and loose my data. Vaio laptops look good but i feel that if the desktop gave me problems a laptop should not be different. HTH.

Hey my cricket playing/enthusiast friend, no one is putting words in your mouth.  So why dont you take a few steps back, and re-read and analyize what was said...To...The...People....w ho...Aren't...Muslim...they...wont...ha ve...the....same...p.o.v...th at...you...do..... No matter what they say and no matter how many times they sit in a starbucks coffee shop with a copy of the Koran and and the latest addition of "apreciating other culutures"...They didnt grow up in it, they will never know, and therefore, no matter what you say about it, being that their from different cultures, they will still never fully comprhend the concept you are trying to put forth.

Can we agree that we can't reason with terrorists?

Yes, which is exactly why we need to keep the number of terrorists to a minimum.  Our current actions in Iraq are the kind of thing that inspires muslims who might otherwise be bystanders to take up the mantle of jihad and fight.

Whoever is inspired to kill INNOCENT PEOPLE be it in Baghdad or NYC cannot be termed a muslim. In fact he renounces his faith the moment he decides to kill innocent people.

Perhaps in your religion, but to everyone else, they are what  they say they are...Example, a pro abortion catholic, shouldnt be offered the sacrament, shouldnt be considered catholic, but bet you'll still refer to Kerry as Catholic

..but to everyone else, they are what  they say they are So you are saying you wanna believe what a brainwashed nut is speaking about the religion as opposed to a practicing muslim who refutes violence and believes in living peacefully. Hmmmm...say it "I WANT WAR"

Credited. Sorry for the misread. But they can atleast try to learn...

very good point, i stand corrected with my assesment of Islam not being the religion of peace

Speaking the truth usually works...unfortunately the truth is one thing our media doesn't like to portray. Be it the good stuff happening in Iraq or the truth about Islam.
