soccer is growing in this country but slower than you might think considering the numbers of kids playing these days.  for some reason people don't view soccer as a spectator sport.  i don't understand why, it's way more interesting than the nfl or nba.
however, i started following soccer after the 1990 world cup and let me tell you- it was hard to follow soccer.  all you had were month old issues of world soccer and maybe a blurb in a newspaper.  now you have fox soccer channel and goltv- 2 24/7 soccer channels, and of course the internet makes everything easier, so soccer should only continue to grow.

I agree. A recent study was conducted which studied the change in Adrenaline levels of spectators of all world sports. They found out that Soccer delivered the most Adrenaline rush to its spectators - more than any other sport in the world. I feel the same way as you - soccer for me is more satisfying than NFL or NBA but then i love Cricket too  :)

Cricket?  Really?

Yeah. You surprised? I guess my avatar says it all  :)

actually no- are you Indian/Pakistani by any chance?  Just trying to place the muslim/cricket fan somewhere in the world  :D

Hmmm...i'd rather not get into the India Vs Pakistan thing. It is too complicated.  ;)

Its weird. When i applied to Hofstra through the LSDAS they never charged an application fee without me requesting a waver. When i came to the payment screen it showed $0. I felt so good.(BTW they did receive my application) ;D

Has any one of you heard from Hofstra yet?

General Off-Topic Board / Re: Nuking Hiroshima, Nagasaki: justifiable?
« on: April 17, 2006, 09:57:38 PM »
It will be interesting to hear the distinctions that people who vote "justified" make between Hirosh/Nagasaki on the one hand, and 9/11 on the other.

1. One was done in the name of freedom, while the other was done in the name of Islamic fascism.

2. One ended a war, while the other provoked a war.

3. One was done as a last resort, while the other was a primary goal.

As for why we did it, I have always figured it was because Truman couldn't risk looking into the eyes of the mother of a dead American soldier whom he had sent to invade Japan.  Truman's obligation was not to "humanity," (whatever the hell that means), it was to his own country.

ISLAMIC FASCISM !!!! Dude dont try to act like a political pundit. REAL Islam never propogates killing innocent people of any faith or religion. Go do some research before you claim something as ISLAMIC !!!
