Choosing the Right Law School / Re: which is preppy?
« on: August 03, 2006, 04:13:28 PM »
i was refering to the lifestyle preppy (I prefer traditional but this term is unknown among your 'kind'). I may go to school in NorCal but after my BA up there you could say I wouldn't look forward to hairy-legged girls that don't eat honey because they don't know what the bees went through to make it, and would not want to exploit them by taking their nectar. But thanks for the info on the three schools. And mellow out.

Chapman is just white kids that couldnt get into to USC and Ive met hot chicks from their law school.

For the most part, this is correct about Chapman except there are a few students that got into USC but picked Chapman because of the money. I did this but I also regret it. lol.

yea, I would have to say negative on having an uncle write an LOR for you. You may want to talk about Drake and how your uncle, graduate from Drake, has told you about all of its benefits.

Peace Corps or teach English abroad.

I mean, that could be true.  I'm not discounting the possibility that this person's qualifications, by some amazing coincidence, outstrip mine.  However, I am extremely doubtful considering that I have a very reliable source who knows that NW is trying to raise their LSAT average to the exclusion of everything else.

I also heard that from a pretty reliable source as well.

Not to belittle anyone's accomplishments, but am I the only one annoyed that NW is willing to take someone with below a 3.0 in exchange for an LSAT that will boost them in the rankings?

I feel your frustration. I am dying to get into Northwestern but things seems rather dim. I have to agree with the earlier poster that the person admitted with a gpa below a 3.0 may have some unique quality about them that none of us have.

You should take Chicago and run. The opportunities given to you with the U of Chicago are endless.

Just got the call (20 min ago) from the admissions office at NU letting me know I was in. My numbers are 175/2.9. I wrote one letter of cont. interest. I also visited the school and met with an admissions cnclr about 3 weeks ago.

Good luck to everyone still on.

Congratulations...hopefully there are still a few more slots available.

military - By "balenced" you mean republican, right?  It's ok, but I thought that it was a given.  Chapman is in the OC, after all.

No, I mean balanced.  Just because a school might have a couple more conservaive profs does not make it a "republican" school.  Chapman's faculty still shows about a 9:1 raio of liberals to conservatives.  Better than the nearly uniformly liberal faculty a most cali schools.

I have found Chapman to be more libertarian than anything else. It is not conservative in which you have ultra-christians trying to convert you. However, I think the majority of the school's focus in aimed towards it business school and theatre and dance schools.

That's a relief.  Good to know that they are still making offers and even better to know that this person is declining.  Holding on to that little bit of hope.
That is really good news. I am still holding out.
