Not so...I heard from both Cornell and Boston College via email long before (several days, anyway) anything showed up via post.  Cornell sent a full-blown "congratulations - you're in!" email complete with graphics and BC sent an invitation to some event that sort of just assumed I already knew I'd been admitted.

I've heard nothing but good things about placement after Cornell.  The school admins know they are in the middle of nowhere and make a major effort organizing job fairs all over the country...I know this because I got in and they've been bugging me for nearly a month...I also would like to practice in CA and was elated at the prospect of not having to go to Hastings (they admitted me first, Cornell about a week later). Note: I talked to an NYU law grad a few weeks ago who knows many people from Hastings and he said that every horror story about sabotage and vicious competition at that place is TRUE, TRUE, TRUE.

I'm currently at NYU - #'s are 3.5/169 with excellent recs from faculty heavyweights, interships and the essay-of-my-life (i.e. it didn't include the fast-typing mistakes of my first post). I've seen all the schools I applied to except BC.  The CLS campus is an eye-sore (compared to the rest of the school) but functional ...NYU is nice, classic and welcoming and has a shiny new building.

I heard back from the safety about one week after they sent app completion notice; the solid chances came a week later; 1 semi-reach has responded (positively) - still waiting on the other two.

I'm pretty happy about CLS but NYU and Stanford (an outside chance) are still out there. Any comments on whether I should just go to CLS and get in on the ground floor with good housing and peace-of-mind or wait it out with NYU (which will just create one hell of a dilemma if I get in)...great appreciation to any responders.

Columbia replied via snail-mail (which sucks because I realized I only had 3 days to finish up fin-aid paperwork and the letter took 2 days to arrive)...NYU sent an email saying they'd compleated the app and would begin review...a week after I'd already heard from BC, Cornell and a few days before I got the Columbia letter.
