congrats on the clerkship! what level are you at? i am hoping to get a job with a firm who will supplement my clerk's income (if i am lucky enough to get (a) a job, (b) a clerkship).

White is most traditional/ safe. I have always heard women should only wear a black suit w/ white or beige shirt to an interview. I am too pale for white, so I always wear a beige shirt.

I would contact the school you are interested in and ask. Some schools give preference to married couples. I know someone who transferred into Columbia b/c her husband went there & she was clearly not in their normal range. On the other hand, when I told a school my long term/ live in bf went there, they did not care. You should advise your partner to contact your school as well or explain the situation, it may help. I am currently in a long distance, & it is possible, but tough.

i had a 24 hour open book final so i tried everything. I had both Gilberts & Emanuels & agree that Gilberts is much better for property (although I normally prefer Emanuels). Also had E & E & Understanding Property, along with some single subject ones- eg my Prof was really into takings.

Glad to hear you disagree w/ me. I am working for a federal dist ct judge this summer so I think my bias made me place it under big law to not be preferential. I agree with other posters that employers are concerned with you actually getting good experience, rather than making copies for some partner. I am the cliche paralegal turned law student which helped me get my summer job.

I know a girl who has a policy (or at least says she does) of taking every weekend off. I don't think I could pull that off. I generally take off one weekend a month completely when my boyfriend visits.
I would caution you against thinking law school will be anything like undergrad. On a normal week I got out on friday nights, and spend the rest of the week studying. It also depends what you want to do. If you want to do public interest of work for the DA, grades are less important. If you want to do big law, you need to a) work harder b) be naturally gifted. 18

I am assuming the OP is asking for advice re: transfer letters since the post is on the transfer board. Most schools require the letters be from law professors only, and they cannot be from LWR professors. It feels like a waste to me to annoy a professor who is going to write a "she got an A in my class and came to office hours occasionally" sort of letter.

nalp.org has a really great apartment exchange resource for summer sublets. My place (not in DC) was literally rented w/in 24 hours & I have been getting emails all week about it.

I wanted to add you may be able to buy your software discounted through your school. I have gotten some good discounts that way. You can check w/ IT. My school can even get us discounts on laptops.
