how about the hand held briefcase type bags? are these common in law school, or does everyone mostly stick to a backpack or roller?

Well, considering 25% of the incoming class is URM and a larger proportion of them are probably living in Gewirz in the Fall, I would say your chances are about 50% of having someone with an "ethnic" sounding name regardless. The fact that it has happened 3 times could easily be coincidence.
Since Gainesville is a college town, I'm guessing that by now most of the closer, bikeable complexes are probably already filled. I went there for a summer during undergrad and I don't know anyone who walked or rode a bike to campus. The campus itself is huge and Gainesville has a lot of sprawl.I agree that the closer complexes are probably filled already, but I disagree that people don't walk or bike or bus to campus. I spent six years going to UF, and I noticed all three methods of transportation used frequently. The bus system for instance is very good for getting to and from campus. There is usually a bus every 15 minutes.
i just spent 4 years at UF and i cant really think of any apartment complex that is within biking distance of the law school.... the closest ones off 34th would still be a pretty decent bike ride and you'd have to cross that really busy street each time
i agree the bus system is very good (though most choose to drive if possible)
Do most people commute? Any comments on buses, biking, driving? Also what complexes are primarily grad students? Thanks
Everyone commutes, it is basically only freshman undergrads that live in the dorms. Buses are good, but you will still want to drive to class if you have a car. You will almost surely live too far away to bike. No apartment complexes I can think of are primarily grad students, they will all have their share of undergrads mixed in. What is your price range and style preference?

If so, have you notified your school? When is your final transcript deadline?
