General Off-Topic Board / Re: Pittsburgh v Seattle...discuss

I will root for anyone who plays against those dirty squeelers.  First they take out Palmer, then they get so lucky against the Colts, whose starters hadn't played in about 4 or 5 weeks.  Seattle has the best tackle in football (Walter Jones), the best offense, and the MVP.  Unlike the Colts, Holmgren will have the offense playing sharp.  Paul Allen will bring home the Lombardi Trophy this year.

Where do I even start with this...

First of all, the Palmer play look clean and none of the Bengals have indicated otherwise. Injury is part of the game and good teams play around it. Recall, for example, how the Patriots dealt with the injury to Bledsoe, or the Rams to the Trent Green injury. Besides, don't you think the Steelers would like to have a healthy Duce Staley?

Secondly, if anyone got lucky in the Colts game it was the Colts. The Polamalu ruling? The very uncharacterisitc Bettis fumble at the end. The Colts pissed away alot of good chances and didn't deserve to win that game. Not to mention the fact that the pressure the Steelers put on Manning was exceptional and something other teams have been unable to do. The fact that they had so long off is, again, something great teams play through. Last year the Pats were in a similar situation when they beat the Steelers and eventually won the Super Bowl.

While I agree about Walter Jones being the best tackle in football, it's hard to call an offense the best in the league when they get to play the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams twice a year each. This also applies to Alexander. Heck of a running back, but hell I'd get 10 tds a year running against those teams.

In the end I think it will come down to the fact that the Steelers will be to physical for the Seahawks. Everytime I watched an NFC game this year I was taken with how a) NFC teams can't tackle, and b) on both offense and defense they don't hit nearly as hard as AFC teams do.

When is superbowl sunday?

Monday morning  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I would like to see Cowher (TBCTNHWTBO in the NFL) and Bettis (in prolly his last year) win titles.  It's funny how all year people said so many teams in the AFC could beat any team in the NFC and now it is the #6 seed that gets a shot at the class of the NFC.

Ridiculous Prediction: Steelers win 16-11

What the heck does the acronym TBCTNHWTBO stand for???

The best coach to never have won the big one.

Steelers win 27-14

I think it depends. I included it only because my decision to attend law school came out of a specific transition that happened in my grad school research. I found myself relying more on legal sources and focusing on issues at the intersection of law and politics. This was my personal statement, but I think a PS can be about many things that are only tangentially or not at all related to one's decision to study law.

Why would I waste my time making a fake post like this??

My reasons for solliciting advice from people who are removed from the situation is pretty simple.  Many of my friends are EXTREMELY BIASED and would just tell me, "You've got to dump her" or something similar.  My friends know that she's had a bad effect on me, and they want me to break up with her as soon as possible.  They only care about me, and how I feel.  I was just trying to get some impartial advice from people who aren't connected with the situation, and as such, won't give me a response that is tempered by bias or favoritism.

Yes, I've deffinitly gotten advice from friends and family.  How can it hurt to see what other people think?

But that is my point. This isn't an issue of bias. Because your friends have seen the detrimental effect of this broad they are better suited to give you advise. Questions like your are not better decided by "impartial" people who are at a certain remove from the situation and only have a vague idea regarding the circumstances. I wouldn't dare give someone in your situation any advise without really having a good idea of the details of the situation.

Seattle will punish Pitt, and show the rest of the world why the Steelers are the #6 seed.  ;)

6 seeds in the AFC = 1 seed in NFC

This is a tough Super Bowl for me as my two closest friends in NYC are diehard Steeler and Seahawk fans respectively.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Despite the fact that this is a law school discussion board, I've cultivated a lot of great relationships here. It may seem trite, but I have come to respect most of the posters on this board and welcome their feedback. I don't see why it should be limited to things DIRECTLY related to law school. We have a lot in common and I think this board is also somewhat of a support network.

Also, I think there's merit to the OP's actions. I think that soliciting advice from an impartial group provides a different yet equally valuable perspective.

Firstly, I'm not saying this should be strictly about law school stuff. Only that perhaps serious matters like this are better dealt with elsewhere. Secondly, I think "impartiality" is a good thing in helping this guy. I think this is one of those situations where people who are familiar with him and her and their history,  are better suited to give advise.

It doesn't matter anyways cause the post is a fake.

Uh, because he can't talk to her. ???

Why are the only options this board or his gf? I meant don't you think there would be people close to this guy who would be better suited to talk about this *&^%?

This thread is bull. Dude, why are you asking people on a goddamn law board about your "crazy ass" girlsfriend?

The AFC is suck a superior conference, it's crazy. Big Ben is f-ing sick.

Indeed.  And he's only in his second year.  He'll be a better QB than Peyton; it's arguable that he's better now.

For real. Manning is spoiled and petulant child. The connection Roethlisberger made with Bettis is the type of thing he'd never be involved with. That whole family is screwed.
