I plan on doing about 30 or so this summer in prep for the october test. What can I get to? I was hoping to get into the 170s. Also, advice on mastering logic games?

I am kind of new to the whole law school app process, soo... My grades this sem are lower than usual (GPA until this point is a 3.72, this sem might be 3.o to 3.3). Main reason being a family member was diagnosed with cancer and I spent 0 time on finals. Is this the sort of thing you put on an app? Thanks
So my friend is a phil major at a respectable 2nd tier lac (may seem like an oxymoron, but really). He is a phil major and will probably end up with a 2.8/155. Mainly, he want to get into U of Montana (in state) but where else should he apply?
I am a sophomore and am considering taking the LSAT October of my junior year (I will be studying abroad for half of the jun to senior summer, and will have little time to study). I have been looking through LSAT material since the beginning of this year, doing a couple questions every day, and plan on studying intensely this entire summer. Can I max out my score with 3 months of pretty faithful studying? I figure I will call it off if I am not testing in my desired range before. Anyone planning on doing this? Heard of someone doing this?
edit: also, how many practice tests should I do this summer? (be a little more specific than "as many as you can")
