I just spent all day at the dalai lama talk. I have a feeling buddhist ideas of causality will creep into my crim law final on monday.

I live off-campus and find the budget to be more than adequate. I don't have a car in town and don't have to pay for health insurance at the moment, which helps a lot. I also have a longer walk (or bus ride, when the weather sucks) to school (20 minutes or 12 minutes, respectively), but I really like the neighborhood, don't mind the walk, have a great landlord, and my rent is dirt cheap.

I eat out and drink decent scotch, and I've still retained enough of the budget to pay the rent on my AA place for the summer. And pay down some consumer debt, to be perfectly honest.

I couldn't agree more. I'm living way within the budget, a good distance from campus, affordable rent and great landlord.

if you value your sanity, live a good distance from campus.

really? most of the people i met at the asw (that i liked) were planning to live in the lawyer's club, so i figured i'd want to be close to these people.

There's nothing wrong with the people that live/will live in the Lawyer's club, except that they are first year law students. How much you like being around first year law students (and their various anxieties and neuroses) is proportional to the length of time until exams.

Most people I know that live in the lawyers club seem to be okay enough with it, but I personally put a high value on having somewhere to go at the end of the day that doesn't involve lots law students. I also enjoy certain amenities such as a kitchen, a washer/dryer without having to walk across the quad, a bathroom I share with only one person, sleeping in past 6AM on football Saturdays, and my roommate's cat :)

Amen.

to each their own.

Hehe, then you sad sacks will realize what the reward is for earning an H in LP... slave labor as a senior judge.

is that where senior judges come from? that explains a lot.

Does anyone know how legal writing is graded at UM? Is it pass/fail? I can't seem to find anything on the website

It's pass/fail.

Well, you can also get an H. I'm shooting for one. I'm a legal practice gunner! Die, hollowman, die!

I still cry myself to sleep at night when I remember that I didn't get an H in legal practice.

I can't believe it has nearly been a year since I started in my own summer start...yikes.

How is it to be almost half way done with ls?  I'll be in your position a year from now (seems like forever).  Any tips for this years summer starters?  I believe we have the same profs that you guys did.

Three semesters does suck. The first one was misleadingly sparse. It feels good to be nearly halfway done. Tips...don't take it too seriously, but don't slack off too much either. Try and deal with the slow pace of the summer and don't be shocked when the fall comes around. Also, forever isn't as long as it may seem.

I know you are lying because no one would ever go to the trouble of conducting a study to compare UMich with CU. :)

:-p
You win, haha.
What are you up to today?

Of course I win.

Today has now become yesterday, and tomorrow became today.

Today today, I'm enjoying the last week of classes that will bring me to the halfway point of law school after finals.

Have the polar bears gone into hibernation in Colorado yet? :D

Ahh classes. I remember them. I really should attend one or two sometime before finals start..
Polar bears? Isn't it colder there? It's beautiful here. :) Sunny and warm.

No, you are at higher altitude. Brrrrr.
