Plus, think of all the coach bags I could buy with the extra...just kidding...thanks for the input.

Just let me know when and where you are going shopping and I'll join you with my extra borrowed funds lol

Good luck with everything.

I guess I'm in the minority b/c I just purchased a 700m and I LOVE it.  It is perfect for lugging around anywhere and won't bog you down.  The keyboard takes a little getting used to, but it's not impossible.  The screen seems small at first, but the widescreen aspect makes it alright and you can adjust the display if you find the font too small.

I 100% agree with the warranty.  Get as much as you can comfortably afford.  I got basic warranty on my desktop and it crashed last year. I was on the phone with someone for 2 hours (most of the time he was on hold while my comp went through various diagnostic scans) and they were very accomodating and helpful.

I'm sure I will get my head bit off for this one, but I suggest you take out their recommendation. (Unless you already know your living expenses - rent, utlities, transportation, food etc. and it comes out to MUCH less.)  First year is tough, and I think it's better to have too much, that you can save for next year and borrow less the last two years after having been through it for a year.  It will also be one less thing to worry about.  You know those things are taken care of and you don't HAVE to work 4 days a week or not pay your rent.  Who knows how the part time job will fit in, and what the summer will bring.  Also, I know a few people who actually worked more during 2nd and 3rd years because there is more freedom, and ended up taking out less those years anyway.

Wait List / Re: Help! I need an honest opinion...
« on: May 26, 2005, 11:08:02 AM »
I'm not sure I agree.  You have obviously let them know that you are very interested in attending their school in the Fall, and I think the letter of interest, additional recs. etc were great, but I'm not sure as to what becomes too much.  I honestly don't know if there is a "too much", but I'm not sure that the further information, although relevant, will change you from being on the border, to them accepting you. It does not really show any indication as to how you will perform there (like if you took the LSAT again, or if you had further grades from other course work sent), so I'm not sure that it would make them say "Yes we have to have this person now that we have this information".

I guess you have nothing to lose, but it may be overkill...

Then again, I've never sat on an admission's committee, so what do I know... lol

Let us know what happens and what you decide, and either way good luck!

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Now what? Hofstra or DePaul
« on: May 25, 2005, 12:29:02 PM »
I took a summer real estate course there, and I also have visited twice since April.  I will be attending in the fall.

I have heard that the area around campus is not that great, but during the day I felt safe and I was not there at night for comparison.  On campus I felt very safe and the campus is nice.

You really need to visit and get a sense for yourself.  I must say, that without a car, it appears to be hard to get around.  When you do go, talk to current students (if you can find any since classes are over now).  I found them to be invaluable.  They gave be a lot of valuable information, some good some not so good, but overall, all the students I spoke to were happy there, and had no regrets.

As an aside...I will be there in the Fall :-)

I just let them know I will not be attending...every little bit helps right?

Good luck.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: hofstra vs. st johns
« on: May 23, 2005, 02:30:52 PM »
It also depends on where you want to work.  If you want LI I would definitely say Hofstra over St. Johns, if you want NYC, then St. Johns may have the slight edge, but I think that if you do well at Hofstra you could easily compete with St. Johns students who do well too.

(Keep in mind I am attending Hofstra in the Fall...slight bias...)

I sympathize with you, but I have a question (not to be cynical) but does it matter if other schools have it or not?  Unless you plan on waiting another year and applying to a school that does, or if you have other options of schools you've been accepted to already for Fall 05 that do, I'm not sure what the answer will do for you.

(I'm not at all biased since I will be at Hofstra in the Fall.....)
