Can't you use forebearance if deferment is no longer an option (as everyone keeps saying if you consolidate you lose the 6 month grace period)? I have about 5k in undergrad loans, and as I really started gearing up for law school, my crappy job plus the expenses of LSAT, applications, seat deposits, etc. were a lot. I spoke to my lender and they told me I was eligible for forbearance until August, and then when August comes it will go back to deferment because I will be in school. I would think that the time you are studying for the bar after school would qualify since you probably wouldn't be making much money during that time. Anyone know?
