General Board / Re: Depressed and lonely in law school?
« on: October 19, 2005, 10:55:58 PM »
Lucky for me, I like to go out to bars and drink a lot. I've met most of my friends through party type activities. If that wasn't my cup of tea, it would be much harder I think to have steady friends since in general people that go out and party are more outgoing and people that don't are not. Nothing wrong with that, but it does make finding close friends more difficult. Give it time, Im sure it will work out.

Yea isnt it funny that this question has been asked dozens of times and we are now half way through the semester and still nobody has a clue about the grading situation?

Im gonna guess no on the C curve just based off of what I got out of looking at the class rankings for all of the classes. A 3.0 was in the bottom half if I remember correctly. That isn't indicative of a "C curve."

What are entries????

I have 1385 on Lexis as a first semester 1L

I think we will find those "papers" to be much worse than a final exam.

General Board / Sorry....What are the best Outlines?
« on: October 07, 2005, 07:23:54 PM »
I remember a while ago I saw that someone listed the best outlines for each class and there was a large consensus that this was correct. I am skeptical that an outline can really be that much better than another, but who knows? I thought that about LSAT prep and then found the powerscores to be much better than the rest. Im mainly looking for a contracts one. Thanks and sorry if this is a redundant topic.

General Board / What the hell are schools in New Orleans doing?
« on: August 30, 2005, 08:36:40 PM »
This applies to all schools obviously, but does anyone here go to Tulane or Loyola? It looks like that city is going to be out of commission for a pretty long time. I guess you just have to pack your bags up and start over next year.

I looked online and the webpages are down for all of them right now.

General Board / Re: Mandatory Attendance

In particular, Legal Writing is the most harsh with TWO allowed abscenses this semester and only ONE allowed abscense next semester (and no... your sick/skip days don't carry).  Seems that I'll be attending class with some very sick people at some point this year because it doesn't seem to be an option to stay home with the flu, pnemonia or strep-throat!

I think that the attendence policy for our class was written by the head of the LRW program and that it is the same for all of the classes. I may be wrong though. Anyways, our teacher in particular seems like if you really have to miss, she will excuse it. I scheduled an interview for a summer job for this coming Tuesday when I was under the assumption that there was no class. Today after she changed that, I spoke with her and she was totally cool about it and told me not to worry about it at all. I still may be able to get to class though. It will be a close call.

Im starting to think that the administration is breathing down their necks to enfore strict attendence. Then like you said, the teachers don't want to come off like that so they just blame it on the ABA.

All in all, the policy is bull. Like you, Id attend class regardless, but things do happen and if you are on the verge of death or in your case you have a kid home sick or in the hospital, attending a pretty unfulfilling class should be the last thing on your mind.

How's Katrina affecting your classes?

Transferring / Re: Toledo Transfers -- Is Toledo to Tier 1 possible?
