Where should I go next fall? / Re: Life in San Diego...« on: January 21, 2007, 02:28:55 AM »For anyone who might know, how friendly are the students at USD? If I end up there, I'd be coming from across the country and alone. Making some friends would be pretty important to me, so I'm wondering if people generally chill with each other or if most people are from the area and do their own thing. When I lived in SD I was in undergrad but I do remember the people being very friendly. No one is really a SD native and so everyone is looking to make friends. I have lived alot of places because my husband is in the Coast Guard and the san Diegans were by far the friendliest and most fun! 65

Also look at www.sdreader.com. The previous poster is right about La Mesa, Spring Valley ect. Dont even go there. It is no bueno! La Jolla UTC is great but very pricey. Mission Valley, Mission Beach, Mission Hills are all great. PB and OB are very expensive but very close to bars ect if that is what you are interested in. I had an apartment right off the 5 at the Claremont Bay, Mission Drive exit that was awesome. It is about 1100 for a one bedroom apartment (much better than what I am looking to pay in SF). Alot of ammeneties ect. It would be about a 10 min drive to USD and you could easily take back roads and never have to even get on the freeway although it isnt bad in that area. Just stay away from the 15 anywhere near Scripps Ranch and Escondido and the 8 near SDSU.

Do readings/etc. on my way there and back. It's not so bad. Better than the crappy buses I had to take here. Nice to meet you J!

I dont know if they are in Santa Clara or not.. guess I will find out My husband is in aviation and unfortunately cannot be stationed there. We are just happy to be in SF. That's because she's already being a big benefit to me just by being there, in the first place. There are other reasons that I won't discuss here. Suffice to say, if she wants to stay in Walnut Creek (which I love), I'm okay with that. Even if it means 45 minutes to an hour there and back every day. I did that for three years here. Where are you headed in the fall OPC? 70

Good thing we are going to just stay in a hotel for a week or so while we get acclimated to the city. My husband wanted to stay in a hotel until I heard from all the schools.... I was like, honey we could be there until April!!!!! So many decisions.....
