Financial Aid / Re: Not Great Credit but didn't need a co-signer
« on: June 18, 2005, 11:54:39 PM »
All I can say is that I heard if you can get all your cards to 50% paid off -- itll really jump up your score.... Don't even get me started on how those emergency, bumps in the road, etc(esp w/ kids and a dog) hurt the cc ratings....  Boy do I ever hear that.

I am assuming you like me prob need the priv for books, bart, cost of living etc....

Please let me know how it is going....

Thanks Yanky!

Hey all, Got my fin aid award letter from GGU... no $$$ ???

But, on the bright side, I applied with access with my around a 640 and didn't need a co-signer.... I am SO THANKFUL!!!! ;D

I figure, I'll just have to finish in the top 20% so I can earn a scholarship for next year. ;)

Happy Weekend All!

Financial Aid / Not Great Credit but didn't need a co-signer
« on: June 18, 2005, 03:34:24 AM »
Hey everyone. Just wanted to share that I have ok credit(close to a 640) and with access I was able to get a private loan w/ out a co-signer.... not their best rate....

But I was so dreading trying to find a cosigner, I don't care....

So, for those of you who are running late in the applying stage, don't just assume if you don't have stellar credit that you'll need a cosigner....

Hooray!

Hi everyone! I am a stay at home mommy of 4 (a 5,4,2, and 1 year old). I will be going to  p/t evenings this Fall. I gave up working f/t when I became a mom...so my husband and I are used to living on a shoestring budget(it def has some frayed areas)LOL.

I tried lawschool once before at Santa Clara. I worked full time at a law firm and took p/t classes in the evening... I ended up leaving after 2 years(while on scholarship)because I was preganant and my husband was finishing his masters. I know that there is no way I could have worked full time, done the law thing p/t in the evenings and done the reqd studying and found the kind of time I wanted to spend with my child.

I would recommend that if there is any way possible you don't work f/t and go p/t ... there is a lot of homework and library research time involved.... anyone working a day job &going p/t in the evening can tell you it is a diff balance.... I can tell you love your children and that you are doing this for your children as well....maybe if you don't mind sacraficing your gardes, it'll work but.... for all the loans/investments.... i would think it might be better(if you still need help budgeting) to go full time and maybe work p/t ... instead... to give yourself/family all that you can...

I wish you luck with this decision!

I am not going to worry, I will be 36 when I finish p/t program in 4 years.... and I think I will have just the right amount of maturity, confidence, &intelligence to land the job of my dreams... and I won't be afraid to tell the hiring partner so either.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: GGU Reception on the 17th?
« on: June 13, 2005, 03:05:21 PM »
Ours should be done first. Student tickets are like $10(discount price) -- go to the GGU website for ordering info.... I voted for him too;)
