Choosing the Right Law School / Re: any word from Fordham?

still complete here as well.  This is the third update which has been complete.  May as well sit back and relax.  Their site says apps complete by 2/1 don't expect to hear by May 1, so its not too shocking.  Wishful thinking :)

I saw that and the dates.  I was only asking because rutgers told me 6-8 weeks and I found out in 2.  Just was wondering if this was the norm or not.

Thanks though.

I took the Feb LSAT but had my app in early January.  Just wondering.  I heard back pretty fast (2 weeks) from Rutgers - Newark.

thanks for the replies ... I didn't know you needed permission.  It hadnt even dawned on me that I would be typing away in class also.

I have a laptop, but my wife uses it.  maybe I will have to buy another one (yet another expense).

I have been looking at MS one note.  Also saw a peice of software called oraganizer 3.0 which is supposedly geared toward law students.

Getting ready for a wild ride here!

As a soon to be 1Ler (and having graduated with my BA in 94 - so I am a bit out of touch these days!) -
Does anyone know if it is standard to tape record lectures or take notes with a laptop during class?

I am trying to ramp up and want to get started on the right foot.  Would be interested to hear people's thoughts on the topic.

if you need to use XP pro, the only reason I can think is that you need to join the Law School Domain (which is a bit odd to me from a security persepective and encroaching on your laptop). XP Pro also has remote desktop.  Though if you join the law school domain they can actively

Regarding Thinkpads -  While they have a good reputation my experience is that 1 in 6 or 7 will fail (we have about 40 of them).  Also remember that IBM just sold their PC and laptop business to a Chinese company and will no longer be pruducing them.

i am an IT director and attending law school in the fall.  I see tons of laptops.  They are all a bit hit and miss.  I have seen my share of Dells, Toshiba's, HP/Compaq and IBM Think pads fail.

I suggest looking at or and search for laptops.  There are often good deals to be had.  Be sure to get at least 512 megs of RAM for XP.  CD burner, USB key (purchased separately), built in 802.11g are pretty much what you want to have.  These days the HDs are pretty big and even budget celeron processors are pretty quick.

XP Home is fine, only thing XP Pro will get you is the ability to join a domain and an web server (which 99% of people won't need).

feb test - in at rutgers - newark.  Still waiting on 5.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / in at rutgers ....

Hi all I am new to the board.  Just got in at rutgers.  I am 32, work full time in NYC and will be going at night. I have a few other apps out (New York Law, St. Johns, Seton Hall ), but it has always been between rutgers and fordham.

I know fordham ranks higher (and is 3 blocks away from my work!), but the cost is a big factor me.  My wife is in grad school at 1200 a credit no finacial aid!

Anyway, waiting to hear back from Fordham, but I have gut feeling I will be at rutgers.  I like what I have seen so far from them.

Any other 30+ people doing this at night?
