Choosing the Right Law School / rutgers vs WL at fordham
« on: April 25, 2005, 09:55:32 AM »
Before I started the whole process I thought it may come down to Rutgers vs. Fordham.

Just found out I am WaitListed on Fordham.  If I get in, I am not sure what to do.

My situation - I am an older student (33 in fall), work full time and will be going PT.

Fordham is literally 3 blocks from my work.

Rutgers gave me some $$ and will be $18,000 LESS per year.

Fordham obviously is a much better ranked school, and is closer.  Is it worth $18,000 more per year?

I have liked all my communications with Rutgers.  They seem to be very approachable and responsive.

More things to think about ... aghhh.

Choosing the Right Law School / seton hall vs rutgers
« on: April 22, 2005, 11:34:57 AM »
I have been accepted to both and after scholarship $$ it will work out to about the same cost for each (8k per year) - I am going part time.

I just always assumed to go with the higher ranked (rutgers).  Seton Hall though is a bit easier to get to and have a 3 day a week schedule for part time in the fall.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?  Thanks all.

Choosing the Right Law School / any word from Fordham?

I took the Feb LSAT but had my app in early January.  Just wondering.  I heard back pretty fast (2 weeks) from Rutgers - Newark.

Incoming 1Ls / note taking and/or recording lectures in class
« on: April 07, 2005, 12:05:56 PM »
As a soon to be 1Ler (and having graduated with my BA in 94 - so I am a bit out of touch these days!) -
Does anyone know if it is standard to tape record lectures or take notes with a laptop during class?

I am trying to ramp up and want to get started on the right foot.  Would be interested to hear people's thoughts on the topic.

Thanks

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / in at rutgers ....
« on: April 05, 2005, 02:49:29 PM »
Hi all I am new to the board.  Just got in at rutgers.  I am 32, work full time in NYC and will be going at night. I have a few other apps out (New York Law, St. Johns, Seton Hall ), but it has always been between rutgers and fordham.

I know fordham ranks higher (and is 3 blocks away from my work!), but the cost is a big factor me.  My wife is in grad school at 1200 a credit no finacial aid!

Anyway, waiting to hear back from Fordham, but I have gut feeling I will be at rutgers.  I like what I have seen so far from them.

Any other 30+ people doing this at night?
