Law School Applications / UMICH over Columbia?

I want to work in NYC at a bigfirm and I know Columbia is a slighty better law school and probably places a little better in NYC, but is it that much of a difference? I liked UMICH a lot better from visiting both schools and it would be a lot cheaper for me ...... this assuming im avg or better within my class, I should be able to get a job at a top firm in nyc? UMICH is a top 5 in terms of prestige from lawyers and judges so that makes me believe i should be ok

thank you

all im saying is upenn and nyu in terms of "prestige" from lawyers and judges are not top 5 and well below the michigans, columbias of the world ..... people who dont make columbia attend nyu and people who dont make nyu attend upenn .... stanford although a great school is more regional than some think ... ive had people tell me that NYC firms prefer a fordham or a brooklyn law to a stanford law ...

I think we would all say Yale and Harvard are one at two, but how do you guys see the next few? I see stanford as more of a west coast school than a national powerhouse ..... its top ten, but its only #2-#3 because each coast needs a powerhouse .....

id say columbia, penn and michgan would be 3-5 .... in terms of overall prestige among lawyers, judges etc ..... an NYU/Stanford may be a step below in my opinion

any other comments ....

im still deciding between columbia and umich
