Acceptances / Help me decide PLEASE
« on: April 03, 2005, 04:28:52 PM »
I would greatly appreciate anyone's help on this matter.  If you all would, place yourself in my shoes and offer advice as to where you would attend.  As you can see, I don't have stellar numbers, but DePaul/Marshall/NYLS were kind enough to offer $$ along with their accpetances.

DePaul is offering 30K total, Marshall full tuition and NYLS 5K a year.  I already know which way I am leaning, but would appreciate any input you all might provide... Thank you and good luck with everyone's decisions.

Wait List / Chicago-Kent
« on: March 31, 2005, 08:24:42 PM »
When 'o when will they send me a decision????  My file was completed mid January and still no word.  Deposits are due for other schools, which I love, and Kent is high on my list.  Has anyone else not heard from Kent or experienced an extended wait before receiving word?? If so please calm my frazzled nerves.

Believe I will be eventually headed over to DePaul.  Anyone recently hear from Kent with a decision?  I have been waiting for their response for a long while now and am wondering what that would mean.  An acceptance to Kent would definately throw a wrench into my decision process.. But man do I love the T-Shirt from Depaul .... and also the alumni network they have established.

If this can happen... you all have hope...

I gasped as I reviewed my New York Law School application today.  I applied and was accepted to their full time day division and received a little cash a little while back.  Upon review of the app, I found that I had spelled the word "Undergraduate" with an extra "G" after the first "D".  Some call it a typo...I maintain that the G is silent.

But either way, they accepted me and labled my acceptance letter with "Dean's Scholar."  There is hope for everyone in this club if the above can happen.

Congrats with your Seton Hall decision... those b'stards dinged me :-\  How long did it take after your file was complete with Kent before they reached a decision?  I sent mine in mid January and they say my app is still with the committee.

I don't doubt that Kent and Loyola both outrank DePaul, but comming from my perspective where DePaul is offering a significant chunk of change.... I am forced to give them attention.  Also, I did not apply to Loyola and from what I have seen from lawschoolnumbers, Kent is a reach for me.

brewha...How did you get so much money out of those schools?
From what I've heard, a solid personal statement and LOR's play a role in the amount of $$ certain schools provide individuals.  I believe both my PS and LOR's were quite solid.  (2 letters from professors who have argued, and won in front of the Supreme Court)

yeah, they definately placed a great deal of empasis on their IP program, but they also made sure to highlight their extensive alumni network.  I plan on practicing in the Chicago area post-bar exam and believe that the network could be a huge bonus to a graduate right out of law school.

Plus, they are the only school so far to send me a T-shirt.. and man is that cool.

One thing i can say though is that it seems Chicago-Kent's facilities are more appealing than DePaul's (if that even accounts for anything).
