I don't know if the academic world is different from the corporate world, but that sounds like a demotion and not a contract dispute.
While I'm not saying you are wrong PBW, I have heard of similar situations. This past semester my undergrad program head went back to teaching full-time. He was in no way demoted. He wanted to teach full-time, as he couldn't stand teaching 1-2 classes at most and spending the rest of the time dealing with administration. From all I've heard, Dean Closius is very well liked and respected, so I would be surprised if this was a demotion. I guess we'll know more when we are on campus this fall...

Deans to return to UT faculty
By MarCom Staff
Jun 2, 2005
Dr. David Stern, dean of the UT College of Arts and Sciences, and Phillip Closius, dean of the UT College of Law, will return to the instructional faculty spring semester 2006.
“Their positive contributions to both their colleges and the University have been many, and I want to extend my thanks to them for their service as deans,” said Dr. Alan Goodridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and enrollment services.
Closius has served as dean of the College of Law since 1999, and Stern has been dean of the College of Arts and Sciences since 2000.
Goodridge said searches for new deans would begin after June 30.

I thought there would be more to the BBQ, but I'm glad that I went. It started off with the Dean giving a little speech in the auditorium (which I missed) followed by a Q&A session. Nothing really earth shattering, but Dean Closius seemed to have a great sense of humor.
This was followed by lunch outside. The food was decent, and the weather couldn't have been any better. Thank God it didn't rain. It was nice to chat with Hotel Yorba and Comm-Law, and meet a few other future students. The two professors that I met were very down to earth, too. I met Carol in person for the first time, and got a chance to sit down with Anna from financial aid, both positive experiences. I'm set for housing, so I didn't deal with any of the apartment people set up around the building. All in all, it was a good day (and not just because I got a day off work).

Toledo does rank. Good luck in making your choice.

Not to highjack your post, but Toledo doesn't rank??? I guess I just never asked that question. I assumed that they did. When I visited they had overall semester GPA's posted for 1L, 2L etc, full-time and part-time, going top to bottom. I assumed that meant they ranked, but maybe I was wrong. Where did you get that info?

I'm wearing jeans and some type of collared shirt. I will be driving a blue P.T. Cruiser with Michigan plates. I will try and be there by 11:00 if anybody wants to meet up beforehand to match cyber-name with face.

No. Your $13,000 in government loans aren't dischargable under bankruptcy anyways. Suck it up, get some kind of payment plan going, and pull yourself back up. A bankruptcy will totally screw you for the next 7 years, and partially screw you forever. As was mentioned above, it will be a big red flag for character and fitness, and may cost you a job someday.

I applied very late in the cycle. Like I said above, found out on Thursday via email that I was in. Today I got a stuffed envelope containing:
scholarship offer letter and Scholarship Financial Statement
barbeque invitation and reservation form
I'll be heading down (work in A2, live in Milan)there on the 27th. I wonder what percentage of the class is from Michigan.
P.S. For you conspiracy theorists, Carol's signature was the same on all three letters from today and a letter I got about a month ago.

Can you give me some more info on the 27th. I got word from Toledo yesterday that I'm in (via a reply to an e-mail) and they also said my info would be going in the mail this morning. Thanks.
