Minority Topics / Decisions !?!?! Advice, please!
« on: May 01, 2005, 07:04:37 AM »
Hi.

I have been recently accepted to Syracuse and debating if I should attend.  The school that I thought I was going to attend was Loyola New Orleans.  I was very excited to go there, however, there were some factors that concerned me.  I am from New York, went to school in NYC and I don't think if this should matter but Korean.

While in NO, I hardly saw any Asians!  I have also heard that it is a very who you know relatively conservative knitted town.  When I asked people about NO, many people said that it is pretty open-minded BUT it is still the South.  I had no idea what they were talking about.  My friend said I may have factors against me in finding a job such as my Race, Gender and Yankee status.  Can anyone attest to this?

I really liked NO and not so much into the rankings.  I just want to attend a school that will open more doors than the other.

These are the schools I have been accepted to thus so far (few still pending):

U. Of Baltimore
Loyola NO
Albany
Syracuse

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thnx! ;)

BDC -

Hey There!   ;D

Do you think that Syracuse is as local of a college as Albany?  Also, I was planning on going to Loyola New Orleans..and just bought a laptop.  Does anyone know if Syracuse has a particular configuration that is needed to work on campus?

Thx. ;)

Congrats about attending Hastings!

:)

Regarding law school, I definitely wouldn't be attending that school for its weather.

I am not sure.  I will be visiting the law school to see how it is.  Bascially now I am down to attending Syracuse or Loyola - New Orleans.

So we shall see.

Thnx again.

Hi Everyone,

I just got the news that I have been accepted to Syracuse Law School.  I will be visiting the school in the very near future.  I was wondering what everyone's impressions are of the school, the good, the bad and ugly?  For instance, how is the student body, reputation, professors, class size, alumni?

Thanks..

Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

 :D

Thanks!

I am excited..but to be honest..I haven't done much research into Syracuse...I really did a lot with the schools I was accepted to.

So, starting from scratch..How is the student body at Syracuse..I might start my own string about Syracuse.

 :D

I posted this to another Albany string..if anyone can help me, greatly appreciated!

Ugh, I just typed all of it prior but it looked like there was an issue when I went to post it.

Let's try again!

I was accepted to Albany and wondering if someone else can share some information they have found out about the school.  I was wondering if anyone found anything negative about the school.  Also, how is the alumni - are the relationships strong?  I didn't sense that while I visited the school - even though they have had some impressive graduates of the school.

I was also wondering how Albany's reputation faired off nationally?  When I went to the open house, one of my biggest concerns was where I would be getting a position post graduation.  Career Services said that NY (Upstate and NYC), Hartford, and Boston are the biggest cities that recruit out of Albany.  I have absolutely NO desire work Upstate, Hartford, and Boston.  Therefore, I am apprehensive.  I also know the competition is fierce in NYC...and I cannot assume that I will be in the top 10% of the class - because you just NEVER know!! Besides the low median salary - I currently make a substantial amount more than that and cannot be The administration all seemed all so kind.

Thanks you guys.
