Wait List / Re: Anyone heard anything about the GW waiting list?
« on: February 13, 2004, 11:38:24 AM »
GW is really competitve this year. I didn't apply, but I had two close friends who did. One had a 165 and a 3.8. The other had a 163 and a 3.75 with two additional years of great work experience. Both went to Boston U for undergrad. And they were both wait listed!

If you want to get off the wait list, keep the admissions people knowing you are still interested. Send in another rec, an updated transcript, or just a letter stating why you want to go to GW specifically above any school.

Be patient with the wait list. People do get off of them! I was wait listed at Hofstra a month ago and I got a call yesterday saying I was accepted.

I think the trick is to make sure they know you are still interested. I think most admissions people figure people say "screw it" when they get wait listed and don't bother to look at it twice. If you keep sending stuff in, they will be forced to re-review your app.

Good luck.

Has anyone heard from Brooklyn yet?
It is my first choice and I have yet to hear from them. I have a 3.5 from Boston U and a 154 average lsat (151, 157). I know it's a long shot, but what do you think my chances are?

Wait List / Re: wait listed at Catholic

Yeah, I am pretty pissed i didn't get in with my numbers. I did not apply to any schools until I finished both LSATS. Last time I looked at their stats, their LSAT 25th -75th is roughly 154-159, so I guess that has a major bearing on acceptance because my GPA was in their 75th percentile.

I did call the admissions office and they said I should keep supplementing my app by sending in another rec and letters of interest to the school. Also an updated transcript. I have done all those things, so we'll see what happens. I was wait listed at Hofstra a month ago and yesterday they accepted me off the wait list, so anything can happen!

Did you apply to Catholic? Where are you planning on going to school?

Wait List / Re: anybody wait-listed at hofstra?

rpplvc13,

Good news... Turns out the day after I posted my reply, I got a call from the dean at Hofstra saying that not only am I accepted off the wait list, but I am also a finalist for the Child and Family Advocacy Fellowship I applied for! Very excited about that...

If you really want to go to Hofstra, I recommend sending in an updated transcript and a letter saying why you want to go there. Also send in another rec. You gotta let them know you are still interested...

If I get the fellowship, I will go there. If not, I'll have to decide between a few other schools.

prelaw_undergrad ,

I couldn't help but find your postings amusing. The way you talk reminds me a lot of my ex-bf, a pretenious snob who, like you, had extremely high "numbers" but NO social skills or personality.

I pity you because when you are off studying at Harvard or wherever the heck you go and have a lifeless corporate job paying 500K a year, I will go to a school where I am comfortable, work at a job that has meaning, and get laid infintely more times than you ever will :)

« on: February 11, 2004, 03:16:26 PM »
I was wait listed at Catholic with a 3.5 GPA from BU and a 154 average LSAT (151 & 157). Anybody else wait listed there??

I really want to go there. Any suggestions on how to get accepted off the wait list?

Yes I was wait listed too at Hofstra. I have a 3.5 and a 154 average LSAT (151 and 157). According to their numbers, we should have got in. What gives?

Where did you go to undergrad?
