Just talked to a person in the Duke admissions office about the waitlist, using the questions someone posted on this website. This particular woman was not very helpful at all. No numbers on the WL (other than "over one hundred"), no ranking, no indication about previous years ("some years we haven't taken anyone; some years two or three; some years thirty"). Sounds like everyone and their mother is on the Duke WL this year, though.

I am also waiting on UVA but nothing so far. Did your status changed on the website or did you just received a letter?
I talked to them last week and they had send quite a bit of letters out then, just not to me
Vivi: I'm still waiting on UVA too. I just talked to them, and the woman said, "They still have not come back with a decision." That's either good or bad, but at least it means they haven't rejected me outright...yet.
I hear the online status monitor for UVA is not the most reliable. Anyone care to comment on that?

To the former Athens resident (and anyone else): Do you know what the landlords/apt policies are like in Athens? I'm in at UGA but waitlisted elsewhere. If I were to get off the waitlist at one of those schools, I'd probably go there, but I'd also like to secure an apt in Athens for the fall. I'm wondering if I'd be able to get out of that lease without paying a gigantic fine.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Glad to hear that others are still waiting. I'm not expecting to be admitted (especially given that VA residents with almost identical numbers to mine are being waitlisted), but I would be thrilled to get on their "priority out-of-state" waiting list. Sigh.

Anyone still waiting to hear from UVA? Should I assume denial/waitlist at this point? Do I stand any chance w/ my numbers as an out-of-state applicant?

I was rejected at Georgetown (not even put on the "regular" waitlist--bastards!), and waitlisted at Duke. With the similarities in our numbers, I'm figuring you got my spot on the G-town waitlist and I got your spot on the Duke waitlist. By the way, I've heard it's good to be on the G-town waitlist--they pull a lot of folks from it over the summer because it's such a big school. So keep hope alive.
Also: I have yet to hear from UVA also. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Atlanta lawyers I know recommend UGA over Emory if you plan on practicing in Georgia. You graduate with much less debt, and if you are toward the top of your class, you are considered for the same jobs as Emory grads. Plus, some law firms actually prefer UGA because it shows a commitment to staying in Georgia. And you've got the Dawg alumni network as well.

lcm, you freeked me out, I just double checked and am still complete, but I can't believe they are jerking people around like this. Good luck to you when you finally do get a decision.
Yeah, it's a demoralizing process. I wonder if the whole going to Decision for a few days thing was a computer fluke or if it has any meaning at all... So of course I've been analyzing that all week. I agree: we have similar numbers, so let's hope we both get good news. Plus, I'm guessing you're also in the "not fresh out of college" group, which must be in our favor (I keep telling myself, at least).

Mine went to Decision on Monday, 3/14, then back to Complete on Wed., 3/16, and according to the admissions office, the whole switching to Decision mode was glitch. If they're going to reject me, I wish they'd get it over with. The waiting is killing me.

Well, I was complete for a little over a month and went to Decision today. I am sure it is a rejection as GULC was a super reach. Of course, I won't be going home until tonight after going out so I will have a Rejection Letter there to ruin my day. I live in Arlington so it will either get there today or get lost for 2 wks like my American Letter did.
I went to "Decision" on Monday, and then back to "Complete" on Wed. I called the Admissions Office, and it turns out they haven't made a decision yet, which is frustrating to know after avidly checking the mail every day. Don't expect to get in, but still...
