Transferring / Re: transfer "down" to Columbia
« on: March 14, 2005, 11:40:54 PM »
I'm seriously thinking about transferring to Columbia from a higher ranked school.  I was admitted there last year and I think I might have chosen the wrong school...it’s just not a great fit with my personality, interests and attitude.  Anyhow, I'm wondering if anyone here has transferred to CLS after earning mediocre 1L grades at a nominally “better” school (Stanford, Harvard, or Yale).  Any comments on prospects and/or process will be most welcome.

Stanford is a good school- stay there, then move to NY. Long-term job prospects will be better. HTH

Waitlisted via telephone today.  The dream is over.  Oh well!

With your LSAT you should have been a lock (I'm serious- Boalt loves TTT LSATs).

I think it's rather pathetic to start fights, then threaten people with untenable lawsuits, get called out and lock the thread.

How does everyone else feel?

My two cents, for what they are worth:

DO NOT choose your law school location based on a boyfriend or girlfriend!!! The vast majority of relationships that 1L's are involved in FAIL!  Unless the other person is in law school or has been through law school, they cannot understand and comiserate with what you are going through.  By 2L, you will be single, stuck at a school and city you probably hate, and you will be kicking youself in the ass because your professional aspirations were shattered (unless the school has placement/salary stats comparable to the one you gave up).

Aren't your professional aspirations shattered enough as it is by attending Boalttt?

Definitely not withdrawing yet. Just got F-ed in the ass by Stanford (no lube). It's looking more and more like another 3 years in Berkeley.

Go to NYU! Boalt is a TTT in decline.
