I think that this sounds like a generic letter as well, no indication that there were too many applicants.  I actually got an e-mail from them on May 2, asking me to apply to their P/T evening division b/c they didn't get that many applicants.

actually as an afterthought i agree.

thanks for all that information. its been very helpful.
I also heard about this new dean thyre getting in and hes a very accomplished person with a very reputable history. Supposedly hes revamping that place and i heard hes already spent millions of dollars doing so. So lets hope that by the time we graduate in 2008 it will be a tier 2 school.

i think that it has to do with the fact that the other schools in the ny area that ppl are pending at have not been sending decisions and so ppl put down seat deposits at hofstra so theyre assured somewhere but as soon as they get accepted at one of the other schools theyre waiting for they will withdraw.

brooklyn and st. johns. this is insane.

brooklyn as in the law school or the city?

most federsl government jobs are alot harder to get than you think. its the local government jobs that are easy to get and dont pay much. i know someone that works for the SEC and he graduated from harvard. I once asked him about harvard if its easy or hard to get  a good job when u graduate, and he told me the only hard thing about harvard is getting in there. so u understand, dont u.
