Current Law Students / Re: Is Batman the best superhero ever?

Strictly Liable,

Superman is not the best superhero because he is basically impervious to enemy attack.  Batman is vulnerable; as you said, he is just a rich guy in tights.  Batman lives life on the edge.  He is also the charismatic leader of Wayne Enterprises.  Peter Parker is a bumbling d-bag.

State your case for Superman rather than simply making conclusory statements, retard.

Batman is sweet.  He has cool gadgetry and is the everyman of Superheroes.  He possesses no superpower, yet he still manages to wipe out crime throughout Gotham City.  If you disagree, present your case for a better superhero.

Incoming 1Ls / roommate wanted
« on: April 18, 2004, 05:34:44 PM »
Hi everybody,

I have decided to attend Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh, PA.  I visited the school and the city for the first time last week, and I was very impressed.  I am posting because I would like to put the word out that I am seeking a roommate.  Duquesne's list of students who are seeking roommates won't be available until mid-May.

I put a deposit down on a 5th floor apartment in Mount Washington, which is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh that overlooks the city's downtown area.  The law school is a ten minute drive away.  If you are looking for a roommate for law school and will be attending Duquesne or Pitt, you might want to check it out.  The apartment is a 2 bedroom/2 bath.  I am a 22 year old male and would prefer to live with another first year Duquesne student.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / marquette wait list
« on: March 15, 2004, 06:36:16 PM »
After many anxious weeks, I finally found out this evening that I was "deferred" at Marquette, my number one choice, ALMOST 2 MONTHS ago!  Evidently, their deferral letter was "lost in the mail" (wink, wink).  Anyways, I'm pissed off because I thought I was still in the running for acceptance.  I know that technically I am not out, but I also know that if they really wanted me, I would have been accepted; few people get accepted off the waiting list.  I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm just a bit annoyed.  Looks like Duquesne University!

Well, I got the axe at Syracuse. (153/3.5)

Choosing the Right Law School / thumbs down from syracuse

After months of waiting, I finally received word from Syracuse University, one of my top three choices...and I got the thumbs down!  I was pretty sure I would get accepted there.  My GPA and LSAT were at or above their medians, and I had lots of extra-curriculars and great essays/letters.  I'm kind of confused about the whole thing.  Anyways, just wanted to communicate with other posters, I hope you guys have luck.  I am now down to pretty much Duquesne, although I got accepted at 4 tier 4s.  I am still waiting to hear from Marquette, which is my top choice because of their sports law program.  It's looking more and more like Pittsburgh for me...

I was wait-listed with a 153 lsat and a 3.5 GPA...I applied to the day division, though...good luck to you

congrats on the acceptance!  I have taken your advice and sent a letter to all of the schools where I have either not heard or have been wait-listed.  I also sent a copy of my grades from the Fall 2003 term (unofficial, I know, but our registrar's office moves about as fast as an elephant with a broken ankle) and an article from our campus newsletter in which I was featured.  I hope this stuff helps me get in...and good luck with the fellowship!

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: just because i'm curious...

I applied at a total of 12 schools:
Ohio Northern (accepted)
Widener (accepted)
New England (accepted)
Roger Williams (accepted)
Quinnipiac (no reply)
Duquesne (accepted)
Hofstra (waitlisted)
Syracuse (no reply)
Notre Dame (no reply)
DePaul (no reply)
Marquette (no reply)
Valparaiso (waitlisted)

Marquette is my first choice because of their sports law program.  Notre Dame is very unlikely for me, but I wanted to take at least one longshot.  After Marquette, Syracuse is my top choice followed by Duquesne, DePaul, and Hofstra.  The other schools were pretty much safety schools.  Where did you apply?
