yeah, in at Tech, both early decisions also answered-- deferred at SMU, out at UH (surprising)

Incoming 1Ls / Re: Accuracy of LSAC "probability of acceptance"
« on: February 13, 2004, 10:30:33 AM »
I just wanted to echo the post before me. Take me for example, my numbers are 2.95/164. Good LSAT crummy GPA. It tells me I have a 75%+ chance at Tulane, Baylor, WUSTL, and tons of others like that. In reality my odds are much lower. It said I have a 90%+ chance at U. Houston -- dinged super early-- not exactly 90% chance. When I look at their grid-- people with my range of numbers have a 50% chance. I just thing they're methodolgy is bad. Maybe to compare me they ONLY use people with a 2.95 (not a 2.75-2.99 like they should) so the pool they compare me to is very small. -- Whatever their ways of getting the numbers, it sucks.

PS I do not have a 40-60% at BU, WM, WL  :P

Law School Admissions / Re: Feb LSAT Score reports

I took it in October of last year and managed to get the score a couple of days before the set time. That is of course no guaranty of future results but hopefully it'll come soon. Best thing you can do now is try to relax, get a beer.

Actually later this same day I got my letter from Tech-- in with a 50% tuition scholarship.  Pretty awesome day for me :) Thanks for the replies by the way.

Side question-- whats up with W&L's fee waivers? I see lots of folks talk about recieving one-- I did too. Realistically I have no chance of getting in? Is this just a ploy to get more applicants so their acceptance rate drops and inflates their ranking?

I gotta ask y'all, I sent out several applications (mostly in late november). So far I got a dinged from UH (meh) and that kinda surprised me. Just thought I'd toss out my numbers and the schools and see if y'all think I should give up and go to a graduate accounting school instead.
164/2.95 (meh to gpa)-- decent school UT-Austin
double major history/psych.
2.5 WE (in a law office and doing collections for a bank while in school -- thus the gpa)
Tex Tech (4t)
SMU (1t)
Baylor (2t)
UH(ding) (2t)
UT (just for laughs)
Tulane (1t)
U-Ark. (both campuses) (2t)
W&L and W&M (fee waivers) (1t)
STCL (4t)

so send forth the decisions!

The thing is that that ding really shocked me... so will it be law school for me?
