Pittsburgh / Still need housing?
« on: July 31, 2005, 04:50:53 PM »
I've posted a couple times about this, and I promise this will be the last time.

I have a house in Squirrel Hill.  I just started moving in on Thursday.  I have one bedroom left to rent.  The house has a huge yard and new appliances.  There's a front porch and a back deck.

The bedroom that is still empty is small, but it is very cheap.  I am only asking $250 per month (plus utilities).  If you are on a budget, or just want to save a ton of money, let me know.

Thanks,
Adam

Current Law Students / Computer options
« on: July 01, 2005, 10:24:28 PM »
I have a 4 year old Sony Vaio.  It's very small, and I love it.

The problem is, it only has a 750 mhz processor (I don't even know how much RAM).  Will that be enough to run the programs that I'll need to for law school?   ???

I know a lot of people buy new computers for school, but a lot of people have tons of debt, and I'm trying to avoid that.

Duquesne U / Need a place to live?
« on: June 26, 2005, 09:57:16 PM »
I'll be a 1L at Pitt in the fall.  I have a house in Squirrel Hill.  There is one bedroom remaining that I'm trying to rent.  The house is in a great neighborhood, and has a big fenced in yard (I have a dog).

The room I'm trying to rent is 7' X 8'.  There's plenty of room for a bed and a dresser.  I'm asking $250 per month.

If you're interested, send me a message.

I'll be a 1L in the fall.  If you're still looking for housing, send me a PM.  I have a house in Squirrell Hill, and I'm still looking to rent out two more rooms.  Rent will be between $250 and $400 depending on which room you'd like.

By the way, I have a dog.

Incoming 1Ls / Smoking in law school
« on: April 04, 2005, 07:08:40 PM »
If you're not a smoker now, do you think you'll become one in law school?  If you smoke now, think you'll smoke more?

I think I'm going to start.  My policy now is to only smoke when I drink.  However, I heard that nicotine opens up receptors in your brain, and you 'learn' more efficiently...  Sign me up.

Choosing the Right Law School / Pitt - where are yinz living?
« on: March 27, 2005, 06:39:37 PM »
I've decided on Pitt.  I will be moving in with a friend from high school who will be a mechanical engineering grad student starting in the fall.  We're starting to look for places now.  Does anyone familiar with Pittsburgh have any suggestions?  I have a buddy at Pitt undergrad who lives in Oakland, and his particular part of town scares me.

I heard something about Squirrel Hill?  I'm vaguely familiar w/ the area as my girlfriend lives in North Hills (parents would kill us if we lived together).  The only constraint that I have is my dog.

You'll also notice from the subject line of this thread that I'm working on my Pitt vocab.  Ok.  Gotta go red up my room now.

Choosing the Right Law School / PITT vs. St. Louis
« on: March 24, 2005, 10:05:12 AM »
I want your opinion.

I can go to Pitt for $10,000 per year
or
St. Louis Univ for $5,500 per year.

I am indifferent between the two cities, and my living expenses will be comparable.

What do you think?  I'm really torn, and I want to see if someone can add something to my thought process that I haven't considered.

Ok.  I just finished my letter to the University of Pittsburgh asking for more money.  My question is this:  it's March 24th, and the seat deposit is due April 15th.  Should I email this bad boy, or send it via snail mail?

I'm thinking email is the way to go due to the time constraint, but I'm worried it'll look less professional.  Should I attach a Word document, or just paste the content of the letter into the email?

HELP!

Thanks,
Adam

I just have a funny story for you guys.  Around midnight last night, I took my dog out.  In my hand, was my letter to Emory saying I won't be attending.  I placed it in the mailbox, and put up the flag.

This morning, at about 8am, I took my dog out again.  but I removed the letter from the mailbox, and brought it back inside!  For some reason, I am incapable of telling Emory I don't want to go there.  I didn't even send them my FAFSA info, but for some reason I just can't tell them no.  They're the best school I've gotten into, but I have no intention of going there.

What's my problem? ;)
