Where should I go next fall? / Waitlisted at Boalt

Got the news today over the phone.  Couldn't resist and called like the rest of you.

Where should I go next fall? / UF, UM or Emory?
« on: March 29, 2005, 10:36:07 AM »
Hey All:

I want to practice Big Law in a city (most likely South Florida, California or New York).  Which school would you go to?  UFlorida, UMiami or Emory?

Keep in mind that I'm paying this all on my own and as of yet have heard of no scholarships to any of these schools.

Please, help me make my decision!  I'll give you all a cookie!  :P

Where should I go next fall? / Help me decide: Emory, UF or UM?
« on: March 23, 2005, 07:14:11 PM »
I want to practice BigLaw (as I've been doing as a paralegal for the last year).  Parents won't help finance education.  I'd like to practice somewhere warm (I hated Penn, Dartmouth and Oxford's cold weather).  So people, if you were me, where would you go?

1) UF
2) UM
3) Emory

Have fun choosing my life for me (and as slim as my chances are, dont' discount the possibility of ND, UCLA, GW & Boalt)

Acceptances / In at Emory!
« on: March 23, 2005, 07:02:22 PM »
So...my snooping around the website proved right.  I got my acceptance today in the mail.  Now to decide whether I can afford it...and to hold out for GW, UCLA and Berkeley.

But yay!  A reach came true!

LOL.  Messing around Opus, I found the e-mail forwarding possibility and then found out I have an e-mail address at emory now: avarias@law.emory.edu

So guys, does THIS mean I'm accepted?  Or do they do this for all potential applicants?

LOL.  Can you tell I just can't wait long enough for my mailman?  ::)

Where should I go next fall? / Where's my mail already?
« on: March 21, 2005, 07:03:32 PM »
Okay, there's like a week left, right?  And the last time I heard from a school was on 2/18.  I sent my applications to Berkeley and UCLA in the first week of December and Emory and GW during the last week of January.

Why is my mailbox empty, especially in relation to UCLA and Berkeley?   ???

I'm not feeling very <3ed.

Where should I go next fall? / Am I accepted to Emory?
« on: March 21, 2005, 10:57:32 AM »
Very confused, but possibly VERY excited.

I have not received the package yet, but....

...I got an e-mail inviting me to a Student chat and an e-mail asking me for more information for financial aid today.

Does this mean Emory admitted me?  Anyone who wasn't admitted that received all this?

Someone, make my day!

Hey All:

I couldn't resist and called Emory.  A decision has been made on my application...but they wouldn't tell me over the phone.

However, they said that decisions have been printed and a big batch is getting ready to go out soon.  So, if you are waiting on Emory, you may expect something next week.

Hope this info helps.

Denials / Do I not deserve a rejection?...
« on: March 17, 2005, 12:09:51 PM »
...at least to calm my nerves?

Any theories as to why I have yet to receive a rejection?  I'm guessing my URM status is throwing everything off the loop.  Please help.  I need a theory to calm my impatient nerves.

Where should I go next fall? / Emory Complete E-mail Again?
« on: March 09, 2005, 10:35:17 AM »
Hiya All:

This morning, I received this e-mail:

Greetings,

Your applicant file is now complete.  Decision letters will be mailed between March 1, 2005 and March 31, 2005.

Sincerely,
Office of Admission
Emory University School of Law

However, I had been told I was complete a month ago.  Why would I receive this again?  And did anyone else receive this?  Please share (especially if you were accepted/rejected after receiving this).
