Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / In @ DePaul... in 11 Days?!?
« on: March 28, 2005, 02:28:57 PM »
Applied March 3. LSAC sent them my report on March 11. Letter dated March 22.

That has got to be some type of record.

Also got $10,500.

I totally agree with anton and Deuces. Stay away from BigLaw and focus on small to medium sized firms.

I have been working at a one-lawyer firm in DC for the last 18 months. Had no legal experience when I started, though I had plenty of DC experience (Hill and K Street work). I started the same as Deuces, mainly filing and paperwork. After awhile, with my boss looking to expand the client base and not being able to handle most of the basic drafting and research duties (he also writes a weekly column and does lobbying and consulting work), he passed it on to me. So in the last year, I have had the chance to do the primary research and drafting on a petition for cert, and appellate briefs to the 4th Circ., DC Court of Appeals and VA and ND Supreme Courts. Now he trusts me with most client interviews and complaint drafts as well.

I would say the biggest asset you can use to get anywhere in law is the ability to write. Part of my application was a writing sample. If you can prove to an attorney you are a capable writer, you can get pretty far.

So called the admissions office, and all they would tell me is that it is possible the email arrived before any acceptance and that they couldn't tell me anything over the phone.

Is it wrong to assume this is good news?

Choosing the Right Law School / DePaul Admitted Students Day Email?
« on: March 22, 2005, 07:47:21 PM »
I got an email from DePaul reminding me of the admitted students day on April 2. Does this mean the acceptance is in the mail, or is this just a head fake?

BTW this thread is the reason I desperately want to do LS in the south. Screw jobs in NY. I would much rather argue about football.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Dammit... Dinged at Mason

This one hurts. I really thought I had a good chance at Mason and it was my top choice. Oh well, lets hope Tulane comes through.
