Nothing to yank

I am sure there is some kind of insecurity issues having to do with a massive change of that sort rocking the boat in the marriage thing.

Guys don't make big changes like that very easily.  If I cut my hair or dyed it drastically, it probably means I wanted to reinvent my image.  From personal experience, when my ex-wife was making big changes like that, it ended up being for her boyfriend.  Sucker me didn't say anything till much later when I caught on.

But that scholarship, along with GI Bill will almost eliminate all my tuition.  Spokane is a nice area, and I'd prefer it in a heartbeat over humid-Flordia(I grew up in Atlanta).

Do you still get your GI Bill in grad school??  I thought there was a finite amount in each account?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Wait-listed at Penn State

I visited there for their open house.  If you want quiet and rural, Carlisle is a good place to be.  There are a lot of affordable housing options there.  I have a family, so it is an ideal place for me, plus I only live about 30 minutes from there now.  Their staff was awesome.  Very sharp.  During the luncheon, the faculty came and sat with all of us.  They were extremely friendly and seemed like that approachability would extend into the classroom.

I am not really into the big college scene.  That is why I went to a different Penn State campus for my undergrad.  So for me, if I go there, I would stay in Carlisle.

As far as the waitlist.  Well, as soon as I get some financial aid information from some other schools, I will be able to clear a spot for you if I get accepted with no $$ from them.

You could try looking for others in your situation and shacking as roommates in a cheap apartment.  I have been living in a mobile home for the last 3 years because it was cheap.  I would also second the camper idea.  My parents bought a used one for $2,000 for traveling.  Not the best, but it is definately better than the back of a pickup.  If you did that, I am sure there are camper parks that would work some sort of long term deal for sewage and water hookups.  I definately give you points for dedication though.

Is it considered vagracy to live in the back of your truck?

Incoming 1Ls / Re: Widener Harrisburg
« on: February 22, 2005, 06:47:42 PM »
If I had a choice, I would go to Wilmington.  I haven't been to the actual campus, but I live 30 mins south of Harrisburg and have been there plenty of times.  I think the access to the beach, tons of courts, and Dover Downs would seal the deal for me towards Wilm.

Harrisburg, isn't anything to brag about.  They do have a minor league team, and the state capital offices are all there (about 15 mins from the campus), but it's still Harrisburg.  It is like sending your buggy to pimp my ride....there is only so much they can do to it.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: UNC or Campbell? Or natta
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:31:28 PM »
I think they are ranked pretty far apart.....but that doesn't mean that much to me.

Campbell is a pretty new school compared to UNC.
I used to live near Campbell in lovely Fayetteville, NC and you couldn't pay me enough to go back there.  It is nice and rural if that appeals to you.

For me, UNC hands down.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Loyola New Orleans v. Denver
« on: February 22, 2005, 09:06:06 AM »
I will try to add something constructive rather than joking around.  I don't know anything about Denver.

I applied to Loyola-NO after I met with a Loyola alumnus.  He is a trial attorney in PA and NJ.  He was extremely enthusiastic about the school.

Basically, this was what he told me.

Night life is great for depressurizing after finals, studying, etc.
It is warm
Large city
Good place to study international law (England, US, and Australia are lone common law countries)
Produces good trial attorneys
Great alumni network
Easy to get a night job if needed (many places open 24hrs)

Lower bar passage rate
Can be expensive without scholarships
You have to pick common law, civil law, or combined curriculum (could be an advantage??)
Competition among Tulane, LSU for local jobs
It gets humid in NO
