Just accepted at South Texas. Not a word on any scholarship money. I am not sure I will take it over Texas Tech though. Further, Tulsa accepted me and gave me 48k. I want to practice in Houston but was waitlisted at UH. I wish I had not applied to so many schools....

Reminder...seat deposits are due January 15th!  That means you Cube Farmer!

Thanks for the reminder Smack. They received my check a week or so ago, and already sent me a return receipt.

You are on the ball!  I sent mine yesterday.

Good Deal. I have 28 days of vacation to burn through until I quit in June, so I am probably going to head down there soon. I was just thinking that even if I get into SMU, I do not think I would be able to afford it anyway. With my numbers, even if I was a muiracle admit, I would not be getting much in the way of scholarship money.

EDIT: Are you sending in your deposit or are you waiting on Houston? I believe the Tech deposit is refundable through April 6th. Then they want another grand....

im bored at work too..and i need to do my upenn public law app..but im so tired...motivation?? anyone??

Look around at your co-workers who have had the same boring job for the last 10-15 years.  That should be all the motivation you need!

LOL...One of my co-workers is 62...He is retiring in 2-3 years, and has been a Technical Writer nearly all of his career. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DOING THIS IN 20-30 YEARS...

Plus today sucks because for the third week in a row, it is snowing. My last winter in Denver (probably) and we have had more snow this season than all of last year. BOOO for snow.

I would take that over what we're getting here in New York.  Its January and tomorrow its supposed to be 67 degrees.  There is something very, very wrong with that.

I would take the rain any day over this garbage. I have never liked cold (or snow) and never will.

That sounds correct to me, but a quick call to LSAC would most likely clear this up for you.

Thanks for the info Tiger. In all likelihood, I will probably be heading down there this fall. I would love to be able to speak with you further as the time approaches. I am gonna shoot you an email just the same. Thanks again.

Hey guys, I'm a 2L at Tech and posted on this board quite a bit back when I was looking into schools myself. If you have any specific questions I can try and answer them, though I doubt I'll check up on this board daily. I tried to keep up occasionally with the one last year and the thing went for something like a hundred pages.....

I will say that I love Tech Law and Lubbock isn't as bad as some make it out to be. It's actually quite livable and the only downside is its relative isolation from seemingly everywhere else in Texas, so road trips can be quite lengthy.

And I couldn't find the link, but somewhere on Tech's main website is a "future projects" page that has blueprints and rendering of the new addition to the law school they've just started working on (which for some reason seemed to kick off right around the time we began studying for finals). Unfortunately for me I will probably have graduated before they're done working on it, but all '07 1L's will probably get two full years to enjoy the new courtroom and lecture hall.

Anyway, good luck with the application process and if you get in to Tech Law definitely come out for a visit. Admitted Students Day (typically mid spring) is a good time to visit because the school provides booze and then has a chili cookoff following tours and even a simulated class, plus you get to visit with dozens of current students.

Hope that helps, and like I said I'll answer any specific questions I can (assuming I remember to come back here  :))

Hi Tiger....My biggest concern about Tech are job opportunities in Dallas and Houston, because it is so far out. As a 2L, have you have luck looking for summer employment?
