Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: In @ USC
« on: February 20, 2005, 02:29:06 PM »

The problem I find between choosing from USC/UCLA.

UCLA: public (cheaper instate tuition) that's continually dropping (including its undergrad program.)

USC: private (needs pretty pennIES) that's continually climbing (including its undergrad program.)

UCLA: Has traffic that makes you want to kill.

USC: Has muggers that try to kill you.

UCLA: You are hulky forested/woodland creature that eats salmon

USC: You're a condom.

Have fun!

1. Boalt is one crazy mofo.  However, all UCs have higher Cali precents because, obviously people from California want to go to those schools to get the in-state tuition, so a large precentage of Ca kids apply versus other states.  This, doesn't mean it has "Cali" preference.

2. People choose schools for the craziest of reasons--weather is one of them.  It just sucks that there is not a wide enough range of UC law schools to catch all the Cali residents.  Unlike the case with undergrad, in which we have 7 campuses (soon to be 8.)

3. In-state preference for the UCs would be nice.  Since I, my parents, and so on are FUNDING them through tax dollars.  If they were privates, I would have no complaints.  However, I just feel that it sucks that out of state kids can "take spots" (even though they do pay a larger tuition.)

Those are my two cents.  :)

i was just wondering when you sent in your applications/went complete..i'm still waiting and the sun is quickly setting.

thanks!  and again, remember at usc half of it's ghetto, and the other half has a denny's (to signify it's un-ghetto-ness.)  you'll have a great time if u choose to go to usc.

i see this ding as more of a blessing than anything--you don't want to go to pepperdine anyway, even in my mom's days, she was like yeah "we advised people against going there."

so no worries, and who want's ken starr as your dean!  ::shivers::

you're going to have a great life, so no sweat dude!

I so agree!  Why doesn't the UCs give some sort of preference to California students!  I mean our tax dollars are funding it!  It's really unfair!  Especially since great schools like UT do give preference to in-state applicants!

What is going on UCs!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Ding at BC!
« on: February 19, 2005, 11:26:58 AM »

From what i'm hearing, BC has some really strange admissions policies.

I mean, I know they're boston/east coast centric with who they admit.  However, when I approached an admissions representative at the law school fair on my campus (Univ Cali-San Diego) instead of answering my question they deflected it by pointing me to their brocher in which they said "as you can see in our 'what schools do our admits come from', we accept many students from many places."  I found this less than satisfactory. ::)

In addition to location factors, I'm also hearing that BC wants to regain it's rankings by manipulating it's 25/75 numbers.  Thus, many that BC accept are also accepted by other top schools.  Who know's what will happen.

Goodluck with your other admissions everyone!  Don't let BC get you down.

I have heard a lot of crap about hastings.

1. If you step out of UCH law school you will find a) trash b) bums c) drug deals d) prostitutes.

2. The competition is deathly cut-throat: My uncle recently just graduated and he realted a story back to me about how when a professor handed out study guides the first person to get them took them all and stuffed them in his bag (this was at the end of class.)  When my uncle walked out of the class to get the study guides he found them ripped up in a trash can.  Thus, I don't believe those urban legends are far from the truth.  >:(

However, even all these bad things, I for some reason still want to go to UCH.  San Francisco is an amazing area.  I also don't have the greatest numbers in the world.

Okay, let's hear more horror stories--these are fun!  Yet, at the same time, depressing.
