I will be starting law school this fall and am currently looking at apartments. Would you recommend living by yourself or having a roommate? I won't know many, if any, people at my law school (I'll probably be attending Texas Tech) so finding a law school roommate would be pot luck most likely. Any advice? Things you wish you had done?
I am a very extroverted person, and I don't think I would enjoy living alone, but I have no clue how law school may affect my desire for time alone.
Any thoughts or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Hey guys! I hope everything is going good at SMU. I am applying to SMU for fall 2006 and I was wondering what your thoughts and impressions were so far. Any words of advice for my application? I am sending it in the next two weeks.
Is it better than when you started? It sounded like it was kinda overwhelming at first. Is it still?
Good Luck guys!

I'm a 1L at Tech currently. No, I would not consider this a national school. It is highly regional. Most grads here go to Dallas or somewhere in West Texas. A smattering go to other locations.
I do feel that Tech's rep is growing and improving. That being said, I believe that there is a ceiling to its reputation because of its location. Lubbock isn't exactly close to anything.
If you, or anyone else, have questions about Tech, post them or PM me. I'd love to talk someone into coming.
Before I decided to come here, I had a horrible opinion of Tech in general. That completely changed when I talked to professors, visited the school, met the students, and heard about the education I will receive. I have no doubts about my employability at graduation (I'm probably around top 40% right now, and I network well).

Hm....I see I'm a little late on this thread.
I'm currently a 1L at Tech and I love it here. The students are top notch (intellectually and in terms of friendliness), the professors are terrific and Tech is on the upswing in terms of reputation.
Location is a hinderance, but if you are motivated it shouldn't stop you. I've already lined up my summer clerkship.
I saw that you sent in a deposit already, but have you sworn off Tech yet? I really don't think you should. If you have any Qs, PM me. I'd love to talk to you. I can also try and put you in touch with a friend of mine at SMU if you are set there.

I'm a 1L at Texas Tech currently. If you have any Qs I'll try my best to answer them. Tech, for sure, values a high GPA which is quite the opposite of other law schools in Texas. I second Cookie Monster's advice. Lay off the prep for now. Concentrate on getting one last semester of really goods grades and then start prepping.
If you have any Q's about Tech, other Texas law schools, or law school in general, let me know. I may not get back to you for a few days but I will respond. I have my last final tomorrow and so help me, I hope I make it back to my apartment (either b/c A- the final may have killed me or B- I'll need a sober driver.).
For now though, concentrate on grades and living the college experience. i wish I had done more of that.
